nikkib24 3 Posted April 14, 2014 Hi I've had my surgery on April 2nd. A week later I've felt light headed and dizzy every time I stand up and if I stand up too long I feel like I'm about to faint. This has happen for some days and I've been to the dr. For test every thing is fine. Has anyone else felt like this. I hate this feeling. Can't get anything done cuz I'm always feeling dizzy or like I'm going to pass out
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted April 14, 2014 It sounds like it might be orthostatic hypotension. Did they discuss that with you? Are you on blood pressure meds? If so, you might want to discuss lowering or stopping them with your PCP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthostatic_hypotension One thing I have seen a lot of people say is that if you pump your legs for several seconds before standing up, and stand up slowly, that helps a lot. Disclaimer: I am NOT a health care professional of any sort! This is just something I have seen discussed on the boards before as a common result of wls. kel2014 6 Posted April 15, 2014 Yep I've had that feeling. I had my surgery 12-3-13. In march is when I started noticing it. I'd get up and walk a couple steps and I'd have to stop. My head was foggy and I felt dizzy. I told my surgeon about it and he seemed to think it may be my blood pressure but it wasn't abnormally low. I just saw my PCP and she did some lab work so I'm anxious to hear what that says. My surgeon doesn't do bloodwork until my 6 mos. appt. but I can't help thinking something is off. I never had any dizziness prior to surgery.

Ndipilato 50 Posted April 15, 2014 Nikkib it def sounds like dehydration with you to! Even if your labs were ok, your BUN & creatinine might has been slightly off (which we nurses and drs say it's ok) but it means slight dehydration! I would try increasing your liquids and see if that helps!!
