Who Dat 70461 331 Posted April 14, 2014 I used Tums about 3-4 weeks post-op, with no ill effects. May want to check with your doctor, just to be safe. Good luck!
Chele H 427 Posted April 14, 2014 Did your doctor give you a prescription acid reducer? I was on Prevacid for one month. Some sleeve patients are on an acid reducer for 6 months or longer. Yes, you can have Tums but you really need to make your surgeon aware of your reflux and get on something to prevent it and protect your esophagus. Hppe you feel better. 1 msfitn2014 reacted to this

fran2014 12 Posted April 14, 2014 Does the heartburn eventually goes away?
Chele H 427 Posted April 15, 2014 Does the heartburn eventually goes away? Some yes, some no. I take Zantac daily now..but I took it before too. I do not know if I still need it, I haven't tried skipping a day yet. 1 fran2014 reacted to this
Kacharle 6 Posted April 15, 2014 I did Omeprazole and still found out that it didn't work for me long-term. Terrible heartburn at night, even sitting up! Stopped taking Omeprazole (your stomach is supposed to make acid to break down your food!) and take chewable stuff, or alka -seltzer... Even Apple cider vinegar or baking powder with a little lemon. My heartburn is pretty intense. Fermented foods like pickles or sauerkraut help. 1 fran2014 reacted to this
azinuit1 12 Posted April 15, 2014 Pepcid AC chewables twice a day.... that has helped, I also notice as I need a snack, my acid reflex acts up... eat some yoghurt or drink some Soup 1 fran2014 reacted to this
