I'm less than 7 months out, and I'm still losing weight and tracking my food and trying to focus on Protein Protein protein.

But it just dawned on me... What is life like 5 or 6 years post op? Is it still an obsession of "how many protein did I get today?"

I guess I'm wondering because I've never eaten like a normal person before, and now I'm pretty obsessed with protein. But is that how it's supposed to be for the rest of my life? I dont know if im explaining clearly enough.... but How does someone eat many years after surgery? (Without getting back into old bad habits of course)

If you can find a local support group I highly recommend attending one. There are many people who attend (in my experience) that are up to 10 years out. Some may be bypass, but there really isn't much if a difference in terms of how life is that far out.

The two that I met had gained some weight back. Probably like 10% of their weight. But they were the ones who took it upon themselves to go to these groups to get back on track, which is very cool to me. They say even 10 years out it is still a daily struggle. Unfortunate junk food still tastes good and it's easy to slip up.

Just gotta take it one day at a time...

From the word go I haven't allowed myself any bread products - partly due to the fact that I was told it was a no no, and the other part, as I go further along on this life experience, that many foods which are considered jumk foods are either mainly or wrapped in bread or the like - burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pastries, doughnuts.... I've stuck by this, and I'm glad - its just the sweet avenue that I've let slip with now and then.. and I need to stop.
