Here I am packing for a vacation I do not want to go on...

Going to Florida, and I am sure everyone knows or remember how miserable it is being heavy in hot weather..We are going to DisneyWorld and I am worried about the humilation of having to get off an attraction because the safety device doesnt fit me. (It happened last year and I was mortified.) Also I will be required to show myself in a swimsuit..-sigh-

It doesnt help that because of this vacation my surgery date had to be moved up. If not for this trip I could have had my surgery on April 22. Now it is on May 12.

Please dont flame me saying I am being selfish and should be happy I am spending time with my family and that it isnt such a long wait, etc. I am already feeling terrible about all of that and that is why I need suggestions on how to cope with these feelings. Advice please!

Have you been to Disney World before? In my experience, most of their rides accommodate heavier people (at least compared to other amusement parks.). I have a thick middle and could get on everything. Just avoid any rides you had difficulty on before. I bet you could google the subject and see if anyone has posted any advice/tips. I will admit, when in line for rides, I tend to scan the crowd and find someone bigger than me ahead of me in line. If they get on, I know I will be ok!

I had my "last hoo-rah" (more like a boo-rah) at Disneyland 4 days before surgery. I was miserable my feet hurt and I was uncomfortable on most of the rides. A lot of the rides I did not partake for the fear of humiliation. I just kept reminding myself this is the last time I will feel like this.

I was just there two days ago, 50 lbs lighter, and my feet never hurt, I got to ride rides more comfortably, and was actually able to get on Peter Pan with my boyfriend and 4 year old. My butt was always too big to share a ride! I can only imagine how even MORE amazing it will be after I get the rest of the weight off.

The point is, make the best of it, but just remember that all these insecurities and physical limitations will all be a thing of the past soon. I hope you have an amazing time either way.

Your feelings are normal. My family goes to Disneyworld every other year. The last time (last Thanksgiving) that I was there I was so miserable and didn't want to be in pictures, etc. Now, I can't wait until my next trip! I am so happy that the next time I go I will be comfortable in my clothes and not mind pictures. Just go and enjoy yourself and remember that it will be your last time there being uncomfortable. Have a great trip!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
