Had my first negative spectator comment

Recommended Posts

As I've posted in other threads, I originally tried to keep my surgery on the down-low, but the 4 people I told ended up telling the rest of the world, so that didn't work out so well. But the upside is I've had nothing but support and congratulations and positive feedback. Lots of curious questions and it's been nice not to have to lie to people about my weight loss. Anyways, last night we had a girls night at a friends house (where I splurged on the toppings of 1/2 piece of pizza, a couple chips with salsa and a glass of Chardonnay!). We were talking about my recent fecal transplant, hysterectomies, menopause, and another girl's inability to have an orgasm (love girl's night).

Towards the end of the night someone was asking something about my surgery. One gal jumped in and asked what surgery? Another girl proceeded to fill her in on the details. She was shocked! "I am SO against this kind of surgery" and "I saw how much weight you lost and I was so proud of you...now I know you just took the easy way out". And you should have seen the look on her face when she found out I had it done in Tijuana! Anyways, I really didn't have to say much, because everyone else jumped in to my defense and she got more grief over not even knowing about my surgery...everyone else in our circle of friends know. It was actually pretty comical. I still don't regret people knowing about my surgery....she is kind of a loon ;)

I've gotten more support than anything also. And when someone does say something negative, there's always a crowd of ppl to back me up. It's pretty cool.

Ugh.. "the easy way out" ... Have they even done ANY research on the surgery and what post-op is like?? Yeah, ok.. Getting most of your stomach removed, plus the pain after surgery, plus eating next to nothing for a few weeks, gradually eating more but healthy foods, exercising, counting calories, drinking 60+ grams Protein a day... YEP. That's TOTALLY the easy way out.

Sorry for the rant. I give you props for not lecturing her like I would have :P

Never got a chance to lecture her... Others jumped in before I could even open my mouth. Actually it's ironic she said my surgery was the "easy way". She is anti-surgery in general and was the reason we were talking about hysterectomies. She has uterine fibroids and has been bleeding for 6 months straight. Her doctor is adamant about her having a hysterectomy, but she won't because "it's really not that bad and surgery scares me".

In the end, we all left with warm fuzzy feelings and the only one who got pissed off was the one who couldn't have an orgasm...she didn't appreciate our vibrator recommendations and technique suggestions.

. A loon is right and an uneducated about the surgery and all your hard work! Sounds like an episode from one if the real housewives shows!!!

Just because SHE is hung up about surgery doesn't mean anyone else is! HAH. Clearly her "shame" is being projected, and whatever she said is nothing about you and everything about HER.

She's making herself miserable in her own life, that's totally her issue!! I'm so glad your friends had your back! :)

Well you are classier than I am.. I vowed to punch someone right in their stupid mouth if they ever accused me of taking the easy way out. First off, there's nothing easy about it. I suffered through two hernia repairs and struggled with all phases of the eating plan because I'm a picky eater. Kudos to you for keeping your cool. I had mine done in Reynosa, Mexico. Best hospital care I have ever had. Too bad there's a stigma surrounding surgery in Mexico.

As long as you are happy with the results and how you achieved them it is no one else's business. Some people are against anything that they themselves are afraid of. You show strength by following what is best for you. Keep it up! You are doing great!

Of course the one struggling with orgasms is angry. I would be too! Poor thing! Lol.

Glad you have a solid group of friend to back you up. Good for them!

You know, it doesn't matter what you do in life, people will always have negative comments. Why do people feel the need to give opinions you didn't ask for. You don't need anyone to be proud of you as long as your proud of yourself. And that the issue, most of us spend so much time as "the fat girl", that people get used to us placing more value on others than ourselves. When you are a beautiful person on the inside and then the outside beauty starts to shine, people get intimidated by the new confidence you have and the new value you place on yourself. Screw her and the negativity. She can just go kick rocks. Congratulations.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
