Strange feeling from fluids

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was sleeved on the 7th of April, and I'm at home now and the pain is subsiding with each passing day.

I'm a little worries though... I'm still on fluids for another week but at the moment whenever I drink something, even the smallest sip, I feel it get stuck in my tummy and it feels really uncomfortable; it passes after a few seconds when my stomach kind of... Groans (actual groaning sound) and the liquid passes through.

Anyone else have this problem?

(I've noticed if I take a large gulp of Water I get the same feeling, but even the smallest sip will trigger it)

Thanks,

I had this problem with cold fluids or if I drink to much at one time.

I've been having the SAME problem. Plain Water is the worst, my unscientific guess is it has something to do with the Water tension.

When I went for my barium swallow, it was clear my stomach was refluxing and only allowing the tiniest amount through. Have you tried different temperatures? Warm chicken broth goes down the easiest. Also, are you on any type of anti-acif medicine, like priolsec or something? That may help as well.

I go in for my surgery follow up on Wednesday and I'm for sure going to ask about this.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
