Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I have never cried soooo much..

Recommended Posts

I am 17 days out and I have noticed such a major change in my clothes and my body, as well as other people. I literally fell apart yesterday and this morning just thinking about not looking the same. Yes it is crazy, I know but I have never been small by no means and seeing myself differently is hard for me. I fit in a pair of shorts that are 5 sizes smaller and I started crying and got all depressed. Someone please tell me this is normal and that I amnot going nuts. Please tell me this depression stuff ends soon.

This surgery releases tons of estrogen, which is stored in fat. As you're losing you're going to be very emotional. Very, very normal to get emotional over the changes in your appearance.

Hang in there :)

It might have to do with your decreased intake of food, or body changes.

Regarding the decreased intake of food, carbohydrates/glucose is brain food, so a reduction in that (as well as a reduction in portion size) can cause some fatigue and blues.

Regarding the body changes, I remember distinctly each time I got out of the hospital (first time for giving birth, second time for gastroenteritis), I felt depressed. I think my body knew it had gone through something and was sending some strange signals to my brain. I didn't feel "right" for several weeks or months until I snapped out of it and felt like myself again. I'm actually planning on having some sort of depression after I get the sleeve; it's surgery after all.

But I would still go talk to a Dr. or therapist if this depression doesn't subside.

Hi there. I was sleeved on 3/25. I'm right there with you. My emotions are crazy.

I don't get upset when I see I'm losing weight but other things definitely do bother me.

I am wondering if you have thought about whether you had any mental reasons for gaining weight.

Some people do gain weight to protect themselves from unwanted attention or to feel

safe and powerful.

Superfab is right, your hormones are going crazy as your body does its thing kick starting major weight loss and releasing hormones. That can really make you crazy.

There's also the whole thing of going through a major change. Even when we want things to be different, we get scared. You know who you are, where you fitted in in life. Or at least you did until you started to look different and feel different. Now who are you? Where do you fit? Don't know about you, but those are fundamental questions that shook me up until I got used to the new me.

All I can tell you is that it will pass and you will begin to go with it. It takes time to recognise the person in the mirror, but let me tell you it is wonderful. I am coming up for my first anniversary and I can put my hand on my heart and say I would do it all again, despite the crying, the pain, the stalls and all the other stuff that's happened on the rollercoaster of being sleeved. My life has been transformed - I am transformed.

Good luck, but keeping talking and if your feelings don't improve, get the right help :-)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
