curb/fall/NSV?

Recommended Posts

last week i fell at the curb leaving Kohl's :(

i reallllly hurt

luckily my ankle moved 'in"/twisted a bit, but all will well!!!!

i am hurt and sore all over though :(

so whats my NSV ????

unfortunately i have fallen before in similar situations

it always took 2 people - with allll their strength to pull me up

its hard to lift 235 lbs of dead weight

now it only took 1 person to pull me up

guess 130 lbs is much easier to "tug" at :)

hubby came "running" from the parking lot toward me after i was already up

after all was said and done, and i we were driving home

my DH jokingly said something like

"see what happens when you do soooo much shopping at Kohl's?"

*********************************************************************

dr wanted me to get x-rays "just in case"...........

i remember when i had WLS, and they handed me my gown...........i prayed it was big enough to cover all me

what was i thinking??? they ONLY had big sized, cuz of course us big girls were having weight loss surgery

this time iwent into the changing room, they had a regular sized gown that "normal" people wear

could have been a model showing off how great i looked

No NSV is too small

all/any new experience is great

my good life continues to get better and better

At times i do on purpose remember sad things from my past :(

that way i'm reminded how wonderful life is now

one happy camper!!!! :)

Poor you, sorry to hear about your fall. Hope the pain has passed and you're not too bruised.

But love the fact you've made something positive out of this - only one person to help you up, eh?! That's cos you are now a piece of fluff, light as air.

As for for your DH, he's looking for any excuse to keep you out of Kohl's but don't let one little fall put you off shopping ha ha ha!!!!!!

Loving the image of you modelling the gown when you were getting the X-rays. Life is now one big catwalk for you, so you go girl!!!!!

just remembered i forgot to say something............

when i went to my regular doc, we did talk about my right ankle, falling on it et al

i asked him with a straight face, "will i be able to run in the NYC marathon"??

he said of course you will :)

i said something like "wow, i never could before!! :)

(old variation of common silly doc joke) like will i be able to play the violin, and doc says yes, etc. etc

cool, i never could play before!!!

oh well, i accidentally took an extra silly pill this morning ;)

Kathy,

Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad nothing is broken! I love your spin on the whole incident, too!

I slipped on ice and fell on my way into church a couple of months ago (and cursed all the way into the door, lol!) and I was also glad to be 140 pounds lighter. It was hugely embarrassing, but I couldn't help but think how much worse it could have been if I weighed 300 pounds!

I also find myself immediately thinking about things like you mention with the gown - will it fit? For me, there is always a fleeting moment when I walk into a room - will I fit in the chair? Then there is always a small moment of elation - I fit in all kinds of small places! I think it's the things like that, that get me through the rough times/days when I feel like I could lose control. I remember those moments of panic, how BAD it felt to be so morbidly obese, and I never want to go back there. Being thin just strips a layer of complexity and misery away from an otherwise nice life, doesn't' it?

Oh, and as for Kohl's, yes, I'm keeping them going in my town, too. Girl's gotta look good, right? ;)

yes, yes and yes to your above statements

being overweight does contribute to many incidents/slips falls

my mom ALWAYS "reminded" me of stuff like that

anything that happens to you that is bad is because i was overweight

probably if i got a splinter she would say its because...............

fitting into chairs/booths/hospital gowns was/could frequently be a challange

one NSV over a year ago..........

i remember sitting down to sit in the movie theater, and i went woa!!!!

there was soooo much room on each side!!!!

i said to my sister, they must be making these seats bigger now

other time, same situation....

i was walking in the airplane aisle towards my seat, and i realized they also must have made the aisles wider ;)

then finally when i sat in the airplane seat - holy moly, there was so much room on each side of me!!

like we all know - its the little things :)

don't worry about me and Kohl's - we're attached at the hip ;)

you've lost 142 lbs!!!!!

that is so amazing!!!!

its wonderful how different you/me/we feel after losing weight :)

keep up the great job (i know you will!!!)

waiting for you to cross the goal/finish line :)

i'll see you there :)

I too love your positive spin on a painful incident!

I had to have my hip joint injected... not fun... but here is my NSV out of it. They made me put on a huge pair none stretching hospital like shorts. I had to tie them and hold them up.... but I bet that when I was obese I wouldn't have even been able to get them on... and it would have been very humiliating.

So, my friend asked how painful the shot was. Yeah, it hurt, but I was very focused on being so exposed during the process of the injection...LOL... totally took my mind off the pain.

needle (injection) in the hip for pain, isn't that a conflict in terms??

aren't those hospital "shorts" attractive?

i know it did make you feel great, having to hold them up so they wouldn't go "down" :)

you are right about feeling awful terrible when/if you can't lift the shorts up when you/me were overweight :(

but look at you now!!! :)

160 lbs gone!!!

losing half your present weight +12

can't imagine how great you must feel, and look

OMG

you are aces :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
