I'm in the medical field.

Recommended Posts

This morning, in this forum, I read that someone was 'itmf' and they weren't. A cna is not itmf just as a medical assistant is not in the nursing field. Sorry. This one pushed me over the edge I'll shut up

What field would YOU say a CNA works in!?!?! The hospital is a medical facility .. They work in the hospital.... Ergo they are in the medical field! I'm in grad school to be a psychologist so I will tell people that I'm in the mental health field ... Should I not say that because I'm a psychologist and not a psychiatrist???

I am also an RN with my BSN and almost done with my MSN (WHOOP!!)

I believe that the best RNs are those that first worked as a nursing assistant. it helps you truly appreciate the TEAM that you are part of, and taking care of the patients. After all, that is what we do, we take care of patients. titles aside.

I work in a huge private practice with multiple docs. The MA's and NA's in our practice do a huge brunt of the work rooming patients, independently titrating meds, triaging nursing calls, etc. The other RN's and myself couldn't provide the advanced levels of care that we do without our MA's.

In my practice, our MA's are absolutely a huge part of our team, and for sure in the medical field. I went to a nursing school where they really encouraged team delegation, RN leadership, etc. That was awesome and really important for learning how to be a nurse, but at the end of the day, we are all in this together.

A cna is in the nursing field. Answers to the rn. A medical assistant and a physicians assist work in the medical as they answer to the physician. Semantics?

And we ALL answer to the patient.

I've been a nurse since Noah built his arc and I can just say this form of snobbery is what we like to refer to as RNitis. SERIOUSLY????? As stated, its still the medical field.

I am not in the medical field I am speaking out as a person who was a patient.

To say that CNA's and MA's are not part of the medical field is a really rude and snarky thing to express.

As a person being the hospital I would have been lost if my CNA wasn't there to help when my nurse was with another patient.

The CNA took care of me most of the time when I needed to go to the bathroom, clean up, needed to be moved in a different position in bed, to take my vitals and just someone to talk to if I was lonely.

Your superior attitude would definitely make me not want you as my nurse.

The CNA's and MA's probably don't like working with you when you consider them beneath you like you do and not part of the team in the medical care.

Get off your high horse and change your attitude.

That's all I have to say on this subject except one more thing and that is thank you to all the CNA's and MA's for being there and for being who you are.

All I know is it was a RN that left sponges and strips of gauze in my bed sore and it healed over and I started to get abscesses and needed surgery to remove it. It was not a nurses assistant which here in Canada we call an LPN. Now where I had WLS you could not tell the difference who was who. They melded into one another and respected each other as helpers. When RN's mouth off about being better the LPN's I always say that it was one of those 4 year schooled nurses that almost killed me. There is in all professions good and bad!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
