Susysleever 265 Posted April 11, 2014 This does apply as I have seen it here. I am a RN with a BSN so please bear with me. I have had ppl say that they are 'in the medical field'. Being snarky, I ask where they went to school. Suddenly the response is "Oh I didn't go to school" or if I ask and 'I am a nurse', 'where did you go to school?' and the response 'well, I didn't go to school, I'm a cna.' I replied, 'But didn't you just say you're a nurse? Did you just lie to me? " Why are ppl pawning themselves as something they are not? Which is illegal by the way. Sigh. 3 pquinn181, kltklass and lynn2win reacted to this
AprilHansen 109 Posted April 11, 2014 I'm never sure how its relevant anyway, even if you are a Dr. You're still here.... 2 haileyn892 and Mokamami reacted to this
Sarahjane79 397 Posted April 11, 2014 A cna is still someone who works in the medical field. I know this is in rants, but I'm a cna, and also in school for nursing, I'd gladly tell people I work in the medical field. 9 AprilHansen, Ariellestarr, Skywalker and 6 others reacted to this
italianmomma 23 Posted April 11, 2014 What this has to do with this forum? Who cares if you are a nurse, doctor or CNA etc? We are all here to help and support each other. And no way can give a medical advise, we can all share our experience, but people need to follow their own Doctors prescription and directions! 14 Danni-doinit4me, pquinn181, ladyd728 and 11 others reacted to this

Susysleever 265 Posted April 11, 2014 This morning, in this forum, I read that someone was 'itmf' and they weren't. A cna is not itmf just as a medical assistant is not in the nursing field. Sorry. This one pushed me over the edge I'll shut up 3 Allbeauty, lynn2win and iamsoworthit reacted to this
italianmomma 23 Posted April 11, 2014 A medical assistant works in the medical field. I'm a medical assistant and I assist with many medical skills, you said you are a nurse so you should know. I went to a medical Assistant school for 10 months in Southern California. So please don't say that a MA is not working in the medical field. There is different levels of jobs. But they are all in the medical field. 6 Sharpie, sylvia45, soonerorlater and 3 others reacted to this
AprilHansen 109 Posted April 11, 2014 I dont work anywhere near the medical field, but I don't understand the snobbery. Seems to me all levels of nursing are valuable. Still, not sure its relevant in any discussion. I only care about a nurses expertise if I'm getting direct care from them. We could all go around touting our educational achievements at every opportunity, but that would get old, real quick. 8 Danni-doinit4me, soonerorlater, pquinn181 and 5 others reacted to this

CrazyJaney 775 Posted April 11, 2014 I respectfully disagree. I am and RN. I have a bachelors degree. I've been a nurse for 18 years. Prior to that, a monitor tech, a unit secretary and an admitting clerk. I'm currently the nurse manager of a 30 bed tele floor, 2 10 bed CCU's and a small IMCU. I consider anyone who influences, touches, helps heal, encourages, treats, diagnoses, facilitates discharge, provides security, nourishment -ALL THOSE PEOPLE PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE. It doesn't mean I'd ask the phlebotomist for advice on my cardiac meds, but it's unfair to say they aren't in "healthcare". Healthcare is a broad, broad term. One of my CNA's can connect with patients and bring comfort better than some of my new grads and even vets. I may be misunderstanding you, but it takes a ton of different people to make up "healthcare". My husband has been an X-ray tech for 30 years. He knows more about bones than me. If you mean people give unqualified medical advice on these boards and shouldn't? Yup. It's the internet. Everyone has an opinion. 17 woo woo, soonerorlater, Mrs.RRn and 14 others reacted to this
Sarahjane79 397 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) a CNA is a nurse aid, which makes me working in the medical field. I get you saying that people lying is dumb, but saying a CNA or MA aren't working on the medical field is some real bullsh!t. southern_sweetie 21 Posted April 12, 2014 I am a CNA and I consider myself in the medical field. CNA's might be at the bottom of the totem pole. But we have the dirtiest and the hardest job. We are the ones that are right there with the patients day in and day out doing their ADL's. We are the ones that take the most abuse. I have worked with many LPN's and RN's that think that they are better than a CNA and they wouldn't even think about changing someone's brief. 1 soonerorlater reacted to this
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted April 12, 2014 Why aren't CNAs in the medical field? As long as they aren't pretending to be nurses, I'm cool with that answer. I LOVE my CNAs. I wouldn't be a great nurse without them. 11 CrazyJaney, melrach, jodie1961 and 8 others reacted to this
Sarahjane79 397 Posted April 12, 2014 I'm a CNA, and also in nursing school. I can't even imagine what a nurse would do without their CNAs. I had to go to school and take take a state test to be able to work in in a nursing home/hospital. Im.just really unsure how that would make me not in the medical field. 1 italianmomma reacted to this
