Patoonces 13 Posted April 11, 2014 Woke up in middle of night choking and aspirating on stomach acid. Horrifically painful and disgusting. Is this my future? I'm two weeks out forgot Prilosec one night!
BigGirlPanties 957 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Should not be your future (hopefully)...it's your "now"... I have that problem whenever I have peanut butter/almonds/nuts after 6-7pm... somewhere in the night or even while watching tv...I'll start coughing/choking ... so I avoid that...tho last night I really really CRAVED some PB...so I had a small spoonful and was ok ... but not going to make it a habit. Good luck to you...and take your Prilosec (leave a post it on your mirror if you have to!) Edited April 11, 2014 by BigGirlPanties
IndieAllie 36 Posted April 11, 2014 I don't want to alarm or discourage you, but I am 6 months out and still have bouts of horrible acid. Going this week to see my surgeon about GERD or whatever is going on. I would keep taking whatever PPI has been prescribed to you and it should manage fine. I was a band to sleeve conversion with some complications so I don't believe my situation is common for everyone.
NMJG 1,266 Posted April 11, 2014 I still need my PPI every night at 8 months. I tried going off and got an ulcer (very painful). I'm afraid this is my future.
Sassy Pants1 186 Posted April 12, 2014 At 6 months out, I am still taking Prilosec 2x daily. I don't have much of an issue with acid except on some mornings. Several times a week, I wake up feeling nauseated. I'm afraid to cut back on the Prilosec for fear it will get worse.
OBXgirl 21 Posted April 16, 2014 I am 7 months out and experience reflux worse than before surgery. I take nexium twice daily. I get a horrible burning feeling in my stomach and throat, sometimes lasting all day. I hope there is light at the end of this tunnel!
