Malsr 49 Posted April 11, 2014 It's finally done! I had my band out and sleeve done on Wednesday, April 9th. I'm still in the hospital now, but feeling good. My insurance pays for 2 days so my doc is taking advantage of that time. He wants to make sure I'm feeling good and can get fluids down. I should be leaving here soon. I'm just happy to be on my way towards my weight loss goal again. I'm ready to feel healthier mentally and physically. Go me! 7 Jed121, JessUK, BigGirlPanties and 4 others reacted to this

JacobsMommy 27 Posted April 11, 2014 Congratulations! I am still going through my process. It's encouraging to know that everything went well for you! Best wishes in your journey 1 Malsr reacted to this
my2bys9799 26 Posted April 11, 2014 Congratulations, I know you must be so glad that it is done, and the worrying and axiety about whether or not to do it is done! Like you, I also will be a band to sleeve revision and I'm scheduled to have it done 5/23. How was the nausea afterwards? I heard it can be a little worse, because there is more manipulation of the stomach, due to having the band removed. Please share what you found helpful. Yes, it is so nice to be headed in the right direction with my new, smaller stomach. I luckily have not had too much nausea. I stayed I stayed in the hospital for 2 days and the nausea I did have was medicated away. I am home now and haven't experienced any. My surgery was also longer than planned. I had a lot of scar tissue from the band that had to be removed. My doc even said that it probably played a role in my difficulty with the band. So instead of taking and hour and a half, my surgery took about two and a half. With all of that manipulation I still didn't have much nausea. I do have lots of abdominal pain. My port incision is the worst, but the gas is the biggest culprit (similar to with the band). I have to walk a lot and move it out of my body. I am trying to keep a positive attitude because I know it helps with recovery. This is a great choice I have made and I am excited for you and your 5/23 surgery. It'll be here before you know it. Good luck and stay focused on the why you're having the surgery and the good it will bring you. The band has obviously got to go for some reason, so let it go. Keep us posted. 3 hopeful2 be slim, BigGirlPanties and my2bys9799 reacted to this
karensdRN 13 Posted April 14, 2014 Hi Malsr. My name is Karen and I had my surgery at Scripps Green 10 days ago. I was wondering how you were doing? There is a supper group tonight 4/14 at Scripps Memorial tonight at 5:30. It would be great to meet you! I remember that your surgery was a conversion so you may not be ready to go yet. Take care my sleeved friend in San Diego !

Take care my sleeved friend in San Diego ! Hi Karen. I'm Mallory. I am doing ok. Not sure if I already mentioned it, but my surgery was at Scripps Memorial (La Jolla). Recovery is a little longer and more painful than I expected and I think it's because my doctor discovered a lot of scar tissue from the band that he had to remove. Today is the first day that I can really sit and stand on my own. I feel better, but not close to 100%. So, you're right. I'm not ready to get out to the support group just yet, but I plan to attend the one on the last Thursday of the month (if I'm not mistaken). I would love to meet you! I hope tonight goes well. I'd love to hear about your experience tonight and how recovery is going for you.

I had some nausea, the worst thing is sugar. juice, Jello, pudding, really made me queasy. Low to no sugar was best for me.
Malsr 49 Posted April 15, 2014 I had the band to sleeve done march 24. I had some nausea, the worst thing is sugar. juice, Jello, pudding, really made me queasy. Low to no sugar was best for me. I haven't had much nausea, just dizziness from dehydration. My doc has me on a sugar-free diet, so I have not experimented with that. His whole thing is no sugar ever (which I stuck to my first year with the band with the exception of special occasions), so I don't plan on tasting sugar any time soon. Plus, with all of the sweet Protein Shakes, sugar-free Popsicles and Jell-O, all I want is something savory. I am not a scrambled eggs fan, but I could go for 4 oz of some right now. Ha! karensdRN 13 Posted April 15, 2014 Hi Mallory it's Karen. I hope you are feeling a little better today. I found that one day can really make a difference. Meeting was good. A couple of people had band to sleeve revision. I was the newest post op there. Others had over four years! The topic was weight gain. You and I aren't on that side but it was great to be around fellow surgery people. I ate 1/2 a scrambled egg today. Was sooo full. Still trying to get in enough fluids. My allergic reaction to the dermabond is subsiding thanks to the steroids. No more itch. Looking forward to meeting you.
