volkitteh 34 Posted April 11, 2014 Just wanted to say hello. A bit on the quiet side so more likely to read than post but had band to bypass revision on the 27th of March. Already my diabetes is gone with no meds blood sugar levels are normal and I've lost 17 pounds(started 275). Feeling great, just can't wait to get my last drain out on the 21st. Just made it to soft foods \o/. 2 Ginger Snaps and longroad34 reacted to this

Valerie Mercer-Spencer 25 Posted April 11, 2014 Wow thats great! I also have diabetes. I am having RNY done on April 22nd and presenly I am on the Optifast liquid diet. I had to do it for 4 weeks and I am now on week 3. My insulin has dropped from 96 units at bedtime to 12 units already. I am off one of my pills for my diabetes and I think by time my surgery is here I may be off all of my diabetes meds. I have lost 25lbs and I am so excited to have this done. Good luck :-) Val 1 longroad34 reacted to this
volkitteh 34 Posted April 15, 2014 Good luck with your surgery! My diabetes was about 40 units daily but I wasn't a good diabetic. Probably should've been higher insulin intake. Luckily my body remembered how to make insulin and I've been diabetes free since 2 days post op. My highest sugar intake now is Greek yogurt and diluted apple juice. My biggest motivations are keeping the diabetes away and shopping. I'm on soft foods now so can't really graze but don't want to even test that habit again. This is a renewal for us, better to keep the old bad habits in the past. 1 longroad34 reacted to this
