Alaine S 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Hey everyone, I'm researching the Lap Band procedure and any info is appreciated. I do not have insurance, however, I have access to the fees it will take to get the procedure done, so anyone out there who also did not have insurance and you have any info, also appreciated!!! Please share with me your thoughts, your progress, your feelings...... I am 48 years old, and I am emotionally and physically drained. I can't go on at this weight I carry around. I isolate and avoid social situations, and of course this is why I have not enjoyed a relationship with a man for the last 10 years. I know this sounds silly, but I don't want to die alone. I have no children, the sense of loss and feelings of regret and time lost haunts me every day, and I need to, well, "get a life." I look forward to sharing with you.... niecyrenee 2 Posted April 9, 2007 Hey Alaine! Welcome to LBT! The band can open a whole new life to you if you are willing. I got mine in November and couldn't be happier! The weight can drain you so much emotionally and physically and can keep you from enjoying life to it's fullest. The band isn't a cure all but it is a fantastic tool! Losing weight has given my confidence quite a boost and because of that, I am much more comfortable in social settings. There are still those "inner demons" that I have to deal with but I know over time, they will diminish. Best of luck to you as you decide what path you want to take. Keep us posted! juliegeraci 7 Posted April 9, 2007 Hi Alaine S, welcome to lapband talk forum. A lot of people save a lot of money be being banded in Mexico. You might want to check that out. I hear it is under $10k. Good luck to you. Julie
babylovestoys 1 Posted April 9, 2007 Alaine, I know how demoralizing it can be to struggle with the weight. I was just banded in Mexico as a self pay. I am just beginningthis journey but am grateful to have the band to assist me. I felt so powerless before. Good luck to you!
twhite 0 Posted April 9, 2007 hi alaine my name is theresa good luck on your decision. I was banded on 12/22/06 in cincinnati, i also was self pay. I know where you are even though i am married and have children i felt alone, or when i went out i felt like all eyes were on the fat lady. It is very draining not only physically but emotionally. The band has opened a whole new world up to me i have more energy than ever. I work out daily and love it. I have more confidence and people are noticing, not just my weight loss but a new me. I would do this again in a second no regrets. My recovery was easy i had very little discomfort. I had 30 people at my house 2 days later for christmas eve.
