TriAllie 0 Posted April 11, 2014 Hi! I'm a new sleever, march 5th I have a few questions for everyone. 1) I can't seem to eat slow enough. I take too big of bites or just shovel it in. I can see that I'm slower then the husband and kids but not slow enough. I end up sick at dinner. Almost always. 2) is one is coupled with 1. I don't stop eating in time...so i get over full....and it leads to vomiting. I've tried measuring out my food. I guess I should measure even less. My brain is having a hard time comprehending that I can't eat a whole egg I guess. Did anyone else struggle with these problems? What did you do to fix it? I was also wondering if anyone knows how many calories I should be looking at 5 to 6 weeks post op? Thanks for any replies....I hope to get my crap together! I hAte throwing up! Madam Reverie 2,958 Posted April 11, 2014 The answers to this are all too simple - although I concede that dinner times with the family might be a struggle. 1) Only dish yourself up the tiniest amount of food. Like ridiculously small (2-3oz of soft-ish stuff). Prepare it before you sit down and do NOT add more to your plate. Try and gnaw on it almost. Gnaw. Wait. Gnaw. Wait. You want the smallest bit of food to last you 20 minutes whilst you're sat at the table. The longer you give yourself, the more like you're going to solve... Number 2) If you chew well and wait to feel the signals and don't shovel, you won't be sick. Fact. Maybe take a mouthful. Put your fork down. Talk to your family around the table. For every three mouthfuls they have perhaps, maybe you nibble on yours a bit. Frustrating. A total mind game. But enjoy this time of eating little - how ever infuriating. This is the time you're going to be shedding weight like nobodies business! Try to take pleasure in the other pleasures of eating round a table and stop making yourself sick. You're too soon out to be throwing up at every meal. Its dangerous. eggs are notoriously tough early out. Try something blander and less rich and in much smaller quantities. Don't worry about calories at this stage. You are not eating enough to max out your calorie intake (unless you're glugging down ice cream of course - which I hope you're not!) Have a good talk with your head, your eyes, your hands and your mouth! You got this! 1 BabySheldon reacted to this
Debi Amador 120 Posted April 11, 2014 I use the eat slow app while I eat, and I take very small bites, almost funny. But it does stop me from throwing it back up.
