I have been told several times that I am "too skinny". The same person will then tell me I look great and she is jealous. I try to take the comments as a compliment. The other day I was showing her a project I want to do at my house and was pointing up at the roof. She grabbed the flabby underarm hanging from my arm and said "you should draw a nipple on these and tell everyone you have extra boobs". THAT HURT MY FEELINGS. I will be getting the arm surgery as soon as I can afford it.

Oh my word. It is incredible how people are. So much more we could be in building each other up instead of tearing each other down. That would take off most of TV from what I hear.

I would have spun on my heel, snatched my arm back and said 'Watch your mouth'...

That is in NO WAY funny or acceptable.

My retort to her:

"You should draw a line down the middle of your face so you look like the ass you are."

My retort to her: "You should draw a line down the middle of your face so you look like the ass you are."

haha. That is good. I usually can't bring myself to something that harsh. I simply cut off people who are not nice. If they are family, I minimize contact as much as possible.

I don't care to have people like this in my life, so, I tell them exactly how I feel. What's the worst thing that can happen? They stop talking to me? I feel I am actually doing them a favor. If they didn't realize they were being mean, they sure do now.

I would stare at her for a second, then slowly say "would you say that again?". When (if) she does, then I'd say "Wait, I want to get a tape recorder, my REAL friends aren't going to believe what you just said to me!". She would probably be making a hasty retreat at this point.

Seven shades of spectacular.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
