Lisa00 14 Posted April 23, 2014 Well today is the day, I have to be at the hospital in 4 hours and surgery to start at noon. I have a 2 hour drive to get there, maybe I will sleep on the way as to pass the time quicker and to not think about how my stomach keeps growling at me. Good Luck to you all today. ladyraerae 20 Posted April 23, 2014 Today is finally here! Wow! I am a little nervous and just checked in at the hospital. I had a crazy realization this morning that I will never be able to take a big gulp of Water again. Duh! Lol! I am a little hard headed though. I have to keep reminding myself why I am doing this and that I am making the right decision. Good luck to all of you today, I will pray for you and your surgeons. Chat with you soon! hopeful2loose2014 21 Posted April 24, 2014 I did it. I feel pretty good and they have me walking every 2 hours but the gas is still painful. It's sitting in my chest and my upper back it's almost hard to take a deep breath. But otherwise I'm good. Hope this is the worse of it. How arey fellow 4/23ers doing? MammaMac 41 Posted April 24, 2014 My surgery was at 1 yesterday and yesterday and last night were rough for me. Gas pains in my chest (I found that putting my arms over my head and arching my back in bed helped with those a lot). I burped and burped and burped. The worst me was the nausea. They tried three differed meds before the last one worked. I've had a few small sips of broth and ice chips.< /p> I'm so happy to not be nauseated anymore!! -MM
ladyraerae 20 Posted April 24, 2014 My sleeve was done yesterday April 23 and I was not expecting all this pain. Learning to stand up or sit down has been the hardest thing for me to learn I keep finding to use my core muscle area which happens to be the one that all the incisions are in I am nauseous all the time and the ice chips are the only thing that I dare to put in my mouth. Getting ready to do a swallow study.
hopeful2loose2014 21 Posted April 24, 2014 Same here. The gas pains in my chest and back are torture. Feel better. My swallow test should be very soon.
MammaMac 41 Posted April 24, 2014 I found that pulling my shoulders back and putting my arms over my head and stretching the entire upper part of my body helped me burp up those gas pains. I was so so nauseous last night! Finally the switched to a different med and now I feel great ! I'm very tired because I was up almost all night but other than that, I'm finally excited about all of this. The worst is behind us! -MM

ladyraerae 20 Posted April 30, 2014 Well it's been a week and I'm wondering how everyone is doing with getting their Protein and liquids in. I am definitely having a difficult time with this. My tummy area is still quite sore as well. I'm still trying to get in as much walking and sipping as I can but I'm running out of hours in the day. How are all of my other April 23rd sleevers doing? StephsJourney 19 Posted April 30, 2014 Sorry you are still having a difficult time getting everything in and still experiencing pain. I have been able to get all of my requitrements in (2 Protein Shakes and 48 oz of other clear liquid) since day 3. As soon as I stopped taking the pain meds it seemed to get easier. I had my post op visit yesterday and they advanced me to cream Soups, yogurt and farina. It's been like heaven. Other than my navel being a little tender, I have no pain at all. MammaMac 41 Posted April 30, 2014 I'm a little sore on my stomach but it gets better daily. As to my fluids, I have so much gas pain when I drink things. It's like super painful as burps work their way up, I hate it. I'm struggling to get 30-40 ounces of liquids in. -MM

I'm doing well. I'm on full liquids and have tolerated everything fine so far. drinking 2 Protein drinks between meals and trying to drink and much Water as possible. no nausea since the 2nd day when i needed a dose of Zofran. Dealing with quite a bit of head hunger, which sucks.
