How did you choose a facility?

I am hoping to be sleeved by Dr Lopez in May between 16-18 anyone else down at that time?

I did a ton of research on both locations prior to deciding on Tijuana. I chose Dr. Fraijo because in addition to his bariatric experience, he is also a trauma surgeon, and the surgery takes place in an actual hospital. Be careful where you choose. Some surgeons work out of strip mall clinics and if there is a problem, you have to be transferred by ambulance to the hospital.

I am not a Mexico sleever, but I would think about the proximity to the border if I were you. People with complications do post here from time to time to tell their stories, and if by small chance you are someone with a complication, you can get to a hospital stateside very quickly from TJ. Just something to consider if everything else is equal.

That said, I'm considering Dr. Saucedo in Monterrey for PS next year, and that is nowhere near the border.

I chose Dr. Lopez in Puerto Vallerta. I've always wanted to visit Puerto Vallerta and after reseaching the doctor and the new hospital there, made the decision. I like that the facility is an actual hospital and has a dedicated bariatric surgical center. Dr. Lopez has performed a significant number of surgeries and seems to be well versed in his craft. This site, http://www.mexicobariatriccenter.com/., as well as his personal site provided information on his credentials.

I'm having surgery here in Tijuana with Dr. Fraijo in the morning! Flew in this morning and have been treated like a queen since I got here - can't keep up with all the drinks, broths and Popsicles the coordinator has been having room service send up. Met some lovely ladies who've been sleeved over the last few days and it was a great experience for them. Very excited!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
