Dondie Olivia 56 Posted April 10, 2014 I admit it. I cheated. I needed something more than just refried Beans, pudding, yogurt and eggbeaters. 16 days post op and I'm still tired most of the time. Soooo, I skipped ahead and bought some lunchmeat and hummus. I ate some of the hummus and felt better. I might try a piece of lunchmeat later. I just feel I'm not getting the right kind of Protein from the powders. Anybody else with me on this?
Kelly Gonzalez 52 Posted April 11, 2014 I'm only 11 days out, and I mashed up some black Beans tonight, and my new sleeve was ok with them. I don't think hummus is a bad thing as long as your new tummy can handle it. I'm not sure with the coldcuts at this point.I'm just so fed up with the same boring tastes, and I've been doing Protein Shakes for 3 weeks pre-op, and now 2 weeks post, and it's all I can do to get them down. Good luck in your journey.
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted April 11, 2014 You cheated..No! Hummus is good for you. And it can be eaten at this time. In fact...Make some boiled eggs..Take out the yoke and add hummus to it and make deviled eggs from it....It tastes great! The lunch meat may back fire. But the guts of the egg and hummus....good stuff..Eat slow now and add a little paprika.....ummmm 1 CaliLoser118 reacted to this
Debi Amador 120 Posted April 11, 2014 If you are going to cheat hummus is the best way to do it, at least you didn't try McDonalds! Keep going, you are doing great!
marfar7 1,533 Posted April 11, 2014 Ok, if ur able to eat refried Beans and eggs u must be on a soft diet, correct? I believe that deli cut lunchmeat is on a soft diet, at least it was on my list. I was on liquids for 4 long weeks. Soft diet was like steak and lobster for me. And refried Beans were my 1st meal. When i could eat refried beans, I was also allowed to eat most cheeses and thinly cut lunchmeat (and canned meats/fish too). I would double check ur diet list. Maybe u didn't "cheat". If ur correct then I wouldn't worry about it too much. As others have said, it's not like u ate a burger and fries. Everyone makes mistakes. Ull make ur fair share of them before too long... Good luck!
CaliLoser118 8 Posted April 11, 2014 I'm 16 days out and lunch eat is on my soft foods list as is hummus. As a matter of fact, had them both today. Not a cheat with my NUT.

I don't care for McDonalds. Well, I am really tempted with the lunchmeat. I haven't opened it yet. As for the egg, I want that yolk too. Good luck! Yes, I'm on soft food. Next Weds. is my 3 week follow up. Which should start the pureed stage. My doc hasn't listed lunchmeat as part of this phase. I will say I am one of the few with no bad side effects except being really tired. No throwing up, nausea, no pain. The odd thing is, I am craving Protein. Almost like I did when the Graves/Hashimoto's disease was at it's worst. That's why the Protein powders don't seem to satisfy. I've been craving meat big time.
