kespy74 103 Posted April 10, 2014 I am five weeks post op and I cannot tolerate any kind of food. I feel nauseous most of the time, and my anti nausea medication doesn't help. I can't even tolerate my Protein drinks or chewable Vitamins. I let my doctor know, and I'm going in tomorrow morning. The only thing I can tolerate right now is Water, and that hurts sometimes. Has anyone else had this experience. What can I expect from my doctor tomorrow. I feel hungry but as soon as I put anything in my mouth, I gag, dry heave, or throw up all together. I'm kind of miserable.
Kelly Gonzalez 52 Posted April 10, 2014 Hey Kepsy, I'm only 11 days post-op, and I can't stand the taste of anything. I also want to cry. I was doing 40 grams of Protein Powder, and went to see my doctor yesterday, and he told me to increase it to 100gms, Its all I can do to get this nasty stuff down me. I can't even stomach the smell of anything. I truly feel your pain, but I thought it might at least get easier, and now I'm seeing you're 5 weeks, OMG. I wish you luck, and blessings sweetheart. All the best.
Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted April 10, 2014 I'm glad you're going to see the doctor. I've heard sometimes gall bladder problems can cause something like this. I hope they find out the problem and it all works out great for you. Please be sure to come back and let us know what happens. Best wishes!
kespy74 103 Posted April 10, 2014 Thank you Kelly and Ginger. I started out being able to tolerate some foods, but it has gotten worse in the past week. Unfortunately I was in Orlando for spring break and couldn't get to my doctor. I really hope the doctor tells me something. I haven't been able to eat in over a week and I fear getting dehydrated. I know I am definitely Protein deficient right now. It feels like I've done a whole bunch of ab exercises from all the dry heaving and throwing up. On a positive note, I've lost 38 pounds from my highest weight and 34 pounds since surgery. Trying to find the silver lining.
shmily 424 Posted April 10, 2014 Someone I met in class had surgery the day before me. She has had the same issue and her doctor ordered a gallbladder ultra sound. I haven't heard from her recently. I am so sorry for you who are suffering
kespy74 103 Posted April 11, 2014 Well my doctor ended up doing an upper scope (EGD) and I had so much inflammation my opening was so narrow hardly anything could get through. He used a ballon to open it up and I am feeling a little better. Unfortunately he said it is something I may need to have done more than once. I am hoping not. I'm on fluids again for the next couple days then I can try soft solids. Keeping my fingers crossed.
/KiMbErLy/ 15 Posted April 11, 2014 I have much of the same symptoms and I am 3+ weeks post op. Im in the hospital right now and have been here for 7 days. I got a PICC line that I now get all my nutrition through. I don't have a gallbladder and I already did the scope as well. I just had an upper GI today and the doctor commented that je felt I had a lot of swelling all over inside. I cant wait till this is all behind me!! I feel bad for anyone this is happening to. I know we didn't sign up for this part! May we all get better soon and never take this surgery for granted!! -Kim

I had it done almost 3 weeks ago and I have been feeling great, eating REAL food and no nausea. The dr. did tell me if I ever had vomiting and nausea again to stop eating food and go to liquids til I call them and come in. I can tolerate having the procedure done agin, it was no big deal. The nausea and vomiting was horrible!
loving.life 110 Posted April 15, 2014 Be prepared that this might happen again. Its normal for us that get strictures to have to be ballooned more than once. They did me 3 weeks in a row
kespy74 103 Posted April 15, 2014 Oh no, I'm afraid it might be happening again. My pouch is hurting every time I try to eat again. No vomiting but I have nausea. I'm kind of hating food right now. I go to my dr on Thursday for my 6 week follow up, so I will let him know.
