Feel like in the beginning when I was released to all food that the amount I could eat was consistent, I would measure it would always be one bite less than my portion...nowadays I've slacked on measuring but for the most part if I'm eating the same or similar thing, one day I can eat the entire thing, the next not even close! It's so odd to me! Here's an example...I ate the entire lunch a couple days ago then today this is all I could finish! So weird, it's the same with salads which I often eat(always meat mostly first) but some days I could eat my whole serving others I stop so early odd!

I go through periods where I can eat a lot ten it just goes away and I can hardly eat anything. I think it has something yo do with my level of activity for any given day.

Though I am pretty consistent in servings sizes, I have noticed I can't eat as much sometimes. No idea why, but I'll take it since I was not one of the lucky ones who lost the hunger feeling.

I find it is what I am eating. Somethings "fit" better in my sleeve. I have a friend who had it done and man can she shovel in the salad!

We were sleeved within a month of one another, so I guess my experience is applicable. I've noticed that there are times at work that I can eat my entire lunch comfortably and other times I might eat 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 and feel fine. There are other times that I might eat a couple crackers and not think about eating again.

I'm not sure what causes that. I think for me, it depends on my stress level and how busy I am. If I'm really in a hurry, I find that I eat less because I know that it'll take me a good 30 minutes to finish and I need part of that 30 mins to run copies, use the bathroom, grab some materials, tidy my classroom, etc.

My portion sizes have been all over the place. Some days I can eat a lot more than others. Today I'm not hungry, so I ended up drinking a Protein shake for lunch. I'm exhausted (kids up all night) and food didn't sound good at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
