I am a big time pattern observer and have just noticed that four days prior to my period I crave carbs like nobody's biz. I never got my period prior to surgery so this is new for me. Does anyone have any tricks for combatting this?

I usually have the same thing happen to me. I usually just eat some extra Protein, or add in another shake for a week. My calories do go up that week beforehand for sure, I just try to stick with protein foods, and maybe have some pudding made with Protein Powder as a treat.

I indulged a little. It only took a few garlic French fries (about 5) and the craving was gone.

The other day I was both PMS-y and fasting before a metabolic test at my gym... So when I was done I was all RAWWRRRR I AM GOING TO HAVE A FREAKING smoothie AND SOMEONE TRY AND STOP ME!!

Well I got it with whole milk, chocolate whey, 2 scoops of Peanut Butter, and ice. Got about... Idk, Pretty close to half but not quite ... And was like, :-P ok I'm done with this.

I threw the rest out and wasn't hungry 'til dinner.

Go figure.

In my pre-sleeve life, I would fight carbs and lose big time. So I just decided to have a total cheat day at least one of the days before I started (maybe more than 1 day if I was honest). My craving was pizza. I am one month post op today and PMSing. I am not craving carbs per se, but I am hungrier. I started my period the day after my surgery so I know I'm close to starting this week. Since my old ways won't work in this new world, I too, am looking for new coping mechanism. I truly don't crave the carbs like I used to but I have looked at food more lustily this week, lol. I am also stalled (for 2 weeks now) and retaining Fluid. I have severe lymphedema and my legs are a mess. My surgeon didn't want me to take my meds post op and I was fine the first couple weeks. But now that I am up and back to normal, running around, plus PMS, my legs are really starting to swell again. I go for my post op 1 month tomorrow. Hopefully me BP will be high enough to start back on half a dose. And GOD HOPE I break this stall once my period starts. Frustrating!

My sleeve capacity increases and my hunger goes up like clockwork the day before TOM. And every time I think, "oh no, am I losing restriction?"

Then the next day it's like, oh yeah, stupid TOM...and it's all back to ok.

I think this is extra funny because we see dietitians, not nutritionists... Dietitians have specific certifications...

I had a hell of a time with NUT too! I don't even know what my nut is. She's skinny so I do (mostly) what she says. I don't know if she is a NUT or a DIE or what.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
