Going to girls night, dinner and a movie on Saturday. We are going to Mexican (Azteca) for dinner. I'll be exactly 32 days post op, and tolerating most things well. Anyone have ideas of what to order? Or should I play safe and get Soup, or Beans and cheese? ?

What's on your surgeon's approved list for your stage? I was allowed refried Beans fairly early. We eat out Mexican every week and I order a side of Beans and cheese. Yummy!!

I've been eating lots of refried beans! I will JUST be starting on solid foods... Just don't want to end up feeling icky. I really want to try some shrimp of some kind... Wonder if I should wait longer though...

If you are tolerating things well try a chicken taco and some Beans. Whatever you like! You can bring home what you can't eat.

Refried Beans

I had a similar function about the same amount of time post op. I went the safe route with chicken tortilla Soup. I couldn't even eat half the cup but it was easy on my tummy. Since I had kept my WLS private, I didn't want to try a new food so soon and risk a bad reaction in a public place with people I knew.

Beans and cheese would also be great. I chose the soup for the added Protein, and less carbs.

I LOVE Mexican food. Sooo When I started the solids phase a single cheese enchilada was a very good friend of mine. That early out I was able to eat about 3/4 of one. Now I will eat one with a little refried Beans.< /p>

I started eating cocktail shrimp at about 4 weeks. I do eat a lot of Beans and cheese with taco sauce and a little bit of taco meat. It's really satisfying for me. :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
