Puppypaws57 137 Posted April 9, 2014 Are you thinking because you will have a long life that your band will need to be replaced 3 times?
Jack 855 Posted April 9, 2014 Welcome to the Forum! I'm 68 & in 9+ year postOp. Most of my clan make it to close to that mark.... No idea on how the Band will tolerate such good genes..... cheers on your journey 5 Ladybandito, terrydumont46, parisshel and 2 others reacted to this
parisshel 1,892 Posted April 9, 2014 My surgeon says the band can stay in for life, if no complications. His protocol is to loosen the band, however, once you've maintained your goal weight for a couple of years. This is due the the fact the body recognizes a tighter band as inflammatory, and as one ages, this isn't optimal. I recognize that not all surgeons follow this protocol. 1 dawalsh reacted to this
monymo 2813 66 Posted April 18, 2014 Hi, I have had a band for 12 years. I had a slip in 2003 but otherwise everything is still the same as when I had it implanted. The band is designed to last about 800 years. Just follow your surgeons rules. Good luck in your journey.
