2muchfun 8,927 Posted April 8, 2014 Do you feel it was worth it? I feel like if I can get 7-10 years out of my band it will have been a success. Of course, we all want more but you made it almost to a decade before the problems overwhelmed the band? If my band failed say after 8 years, I'd consider having another one. Of course, other bodily parts may not agree with that and I'd have to go with a sleeve or nothing at all? Or, maybe plication? Good luck and let us know how it all works out for you? Leena 108 Posted April 8, 2014 I know how you feel. Mine has been out for 5 days. I have so many emotions about it that are just hitting me now. Very bad timing as my son is being hospitalized right now for mental health issues so it's at least taking my mind off not having a band. Thursday I have my post-op appointment so I know that's going to hit me.
Annette_33815 8 Posted April 8, 2014 Yes I feel like it was worth it, but I am actually looking forward to being & staying healthy after my removal. I miss those veggies I couldn't eat while banded. Did you know I haven't had a fast food hamburger since 2006? Lol
2muchfun 8,927 Posted April 8, 2014 Yes I feel like it was worth it, but I am actually looking forward to being & staying healthy after my removal. I miss those veggies I couldn't eat while banded. Did you know I haven't had a fast food hamburger since 2006? Lol For you and Leena. Please come back over the next year and tell us your struggles or successes with maintenance after removal. I know I have always been curious if the lessons we learned from being banded are retained? I've seen many who gained all weight back by going back to old habits. How hard is it to stay focused and eat healthy when the tool is removed? Keep in touch. tmf
Leena 108 Posted April 9, 2014 I'll be around. I still have to find out if a revision to another surgery is an option for me. I loved my band, but after the complications with it I won't be getting another one. Right now I'm struggling with a fear of food. And at the moment am stuck at the hospital with my son & staying on liquids because there's no way to advance my diet here. 1 2muchfun reacted to this
Annette_33815 8 Posted April 11, 2014 We'll I made it. I am awfully sore- my surgeon put a drain in my abdomen; I get that out today. Evidently my body was trying to consume my port because it was totally encapsulated which my surgeon said that was the reason for the pain, he took the chunk of scar tissue out with the port. Other than that, I am doing well but still on liquids until after my appt today.

Annette_33815 8 Posted September 4, 2014 Well its been almost 4 mos & Ive gained 25lbs. i want to eat everything in sight now. Still having a bit of spasming in my esophagus with escalates my anxiety. Wonder if I permanently damaged myself with the band, not a good feeling.
