Hi everybody!

My name is Louise and I am a researcher in bariatric surgery from University College Cork in Ireland.

Having personal experience of the bariatric journey, I was amazed by the huge psychological impact the surgery has & how much we still need to learn.

Ireland has quite a small bariatric community so I would be so grateful if you would lend your voice/experience and be apart of something meaningful.

The questionnaire doesnt require any identifying information, just your experience & will take about 15min to complete.

I am more than happy to forward you the results once I have completed it if you would like.

Here it is

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eDZE0cIK8ChVCeWrsX1s-QMAshk5oLErL7c7q5Sk2Kw/viewform

If you would like anymore information or the final results, my email is listed on the first page. Also, if you decide to do the survey, leave a comment & let me know so I can send positive thoughts and love your way! :D

Thank you so much in advance to anyone who contributes their experience :)

I just finished the survey. What surprised me was that it brought a lot of hidden emotions to the surface. I was expecting to just respond to the questions and then go on with my day........but now I have to reflect on how this surgery has changed so many other aspects in my life. How can I be a fairy happy person yet fall ino a dark space so unexpectedly?

So, Loulou 11, I think the results of this survey will impact me personally in many ways. Thanks for posting it.

I did the survey. Not very easy to do on mobile because the screen gets cut off.

I did it...the education is different that in the US, so I wasn't sure about that... but it was interesting... as stated... it made me "think" about things again

Thank you for your participation and your feedback, I really appreciate it.

@@AprilHansen : Yes April, it would be more comfortable in a tablet, laptop or pc. Thanks so much for doing it! :)

@@Miss Mac : I am so glad you felt this survey was relevant to you. Its such a meaningful piece of research and very much needed in the area. :)

Unfortunately this research does not receive funding to provide incentives for participating but hopefully people will see its relevency and complete the questionnaire so that the results are as representative as possible.

@@BigGirlPanties : Yes, apologies for that, it started out as an Irish based survey! thanks you so much for your input :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
