Mine started at 3 months and slacked at 7 months. At months 8-10 it's growing back slowly.

Did it just start falling out recently?? I'm just curious. I'm about 4 months out from my surgery and havn't had any significant Hair loss yet. Hopefully it dosn't happen. And I hope you stop losing yours VERY SOON!

hair loss is a result of Vitamins deficiencies. My surgeon said most wls patients will experience it. I've hear that 7 months is generally the start time. I'm already taking Biotin to help with that, I'm 3 weeks post-op. It helped when I went thru menopause to stop the loss and my surgeon and PCP both recommend it.

Being a person who has lost a fair amount of hair, i have found something, which I believe (and I am tentative in saying this), has helped drastically slow down my Hair loss - and it aint Biotin.

It's Iron, folks.

I have upped my red meat consumption drastically, I take two complete Multivitamins a day (which have 100% of your daily requirement of Iron per tablet) and..

I am swallowing two spatone Iron supplement sachets. I am still losing hair, don't get me wrong, but since I significantly upped my iron, it has definitely diminished.

I am constipated like a mo-fo, but I do think its working...

For info, the loss started at 3.5-4 months and I'm now approaching month 7.

No Vitamin deficiency here and hair started dropping for me at the 3 month mark. I've been taking Biotin and all the other usual Vitamins we take. Still losing loads of hair.

However, with my pregnancies and hysterectomy I lost zero when most lose it then too.

Some people just lose it, some don't. I'm 6 months post op now and its calming down finally.

Started at 3 1/2 still going strong. I have been taking Biotin since 2 months pre op. I'll try the iron!

Ok, I'm pre-op so I'm just trying to gather all the info I can from all the pro's and as I was reading your post, I was thinking, "Oh, that's a lot of Iron..." then I got to this part and almost choked. Sorry your constipated....but happy you talk like I do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
