southern_sweetie 21 Posted April 7, 2014 I have been lurking around for about a week now, I am shy so it is hard for me to just jump in there. I am in the beginning stages of tying to get sleeved. I just got my letter of medical necessity today and started my 3 months of required weight loss program with my PCP. If everything goes smooth I hope to have the surgery done by September or October. I have one question for those who have already had the sleeve done. It is kinda weird and I haven't seen any post on this yet. I was wondering if anyone has lost significant weight in their fingers? I have fat fingers and my wedding ring is a size 10. I know it is a silly question, but I want to be able to buy a ring from the store without having to hope they have my size or if they can even get it sized to what I need. PdxMan 4,292 Posted April 7, 2014 About 7 months post op I was telling a story to some co-workers and using my hands during a demonstrative moment. My wedding ring went flying across the room landing on someone's keyboard. Oy ... At this point, nobody at my work knew I had the surgery (they all know now) but of course, they knew I had been losing weight. It was a funny NSV. The problem was, my wedding ring was titanium, which can't be re-sized. I basically went without a ring for a year as I didn't know where my weight was going to settle. I have since purchased a new ring and it works for me. I am sad it is not my "wedding" ring, but I do still have the original up by the kitchen sink. Stores can always order a ring in your size and if not, if it is a pliable metal, they can re-size it. 2 RJ'S/beginning and Pepper123 reacted to this
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted April 7, 2014 In no time at all I went from a size 8 ring to a 5.5. Even when I was a teenager my fingers were a 6. All of my rings are too big for me... It is sad because both of my wedding rings cannot be sized because they have designs on them...Right now I am wearing a fake diamond and wedding ring. I really don't know what to do. I have tried wearing some different ones together but the rings just twirl around my finger..... They are in my dresser....
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted April 7, 2014 At three months out and 50 pounds down, I can no longer wear my Celtic Claddaugh ring. On Saint Patricks Day, I got it out to wear with all of my other green fabulousness. The ring kept sliding off all by itself, so I put it back in the jewelry box. So...that and the shoe thing are helping to make my sleeve recovery more real.
