yvonne74 73 Posted April 7, 2014 My Lapband Dr is upset I'm pregnant again. I had a miscarriage in November at 10wks. I had severe morning sickness with that pregnancy so he wanted to do an endoscopy. I scheduled the test but his office cancelled on me and between their holiday schedule and mine (plus work), we couldn't reschedule. It wouldn't have worked anyways b/c by then I was pg again. Today, I go in b/c I'm having a lot of gall bladder issues and he gets upset b/c I'm pregnant and can't have the endo done and a HIDA? scan done. I remind him that I had a HIDA done before I was pg the first time and it came back at 79%. He tells me that he is removing all Fluid from my band and if I still have issues during the pregnancy, HE will schedule an emergency band removal.
roxysanchez 11 Posted April 7, 2014 Well that kinda sucks your Dr should be there for you and be more understanding Well congratulations on your pregnancy I hope this one goes better than the last one
gowalking 10,790 Posted April 8, 2014 Sounds like your pregnancy is making his job more difficult. I'd make it easy on him and find a more supportive doctor because this one sucks. Congrats on the wonderful news. 1 ErinMarie reacted to this
kimk1999 450 Posted April 8, 2014 Yeah I second gowalking's advice. Can you find someone else? My surgeon and gyno both know I did the lap band to get lose weight for pregnancy. They are both on board. My surgeon recently gave me the green light to start trying (whenever I reach a weight that I want to be to get pregnant). Congrats on the pregnancy and I wish you the best of luck this time around. if you can find a different surgeon, I'd recommend trying that route.
yvonne74 73 Posted April 8, 2014 Thanks! DH and I were talking about this last night. We went to San Antonio due to no one around my area (Killeen/Ft Hood) would do the surgery on me. They told me I was too fat for the lapband and I wouldn't be successful. However, since the surgery, I have gone off all meds (blood pressure, diabetes) and I got pregnant twice on my own. I needed medical assistance getting pg with my older boys. I have a new OB and she is wonderful. We were talking about seeing if we could find someone here now that I've had the surgery to do follow-ups. I see my OB next week so I will be talking to her to see if she can help transfer me to a post Dr. (Ft. Hood). 1 ErinMarie reacted to this
