BananaBelly 0 Posted April 7, 2014 Okay, I have searched and searched for an answer, but can't find one. Wondering if anyone had to do the Magnesium Citrate bowel prep 2 days before surgery, and if so, did you and how much weight was lost?
Blondiee 278 Posted April 7, 2014 My surgeon didn't require this step but I did it anyway. Don't know how much weight I lost though, sorry.
Sandy1363 9 Posted April 7, 2014 No sorry I can't help because my surgeon didn't make me do it so I didn't.
Recycled 2,182 Posted April 7, 2014 It's not really to make you lose weight. It's just to clear the bowels. I've had alot of surgeries and trust me. Do it. the more you can empty the pipes, the less issues you will have post. Some pain meds along with surgical trauma to the bod and no real food intake, will play hell with your digestive tract. Constipation is miserable. My doc didn't even require it, but I used mag- cit the day before surgery anyway. Glad I did. No problems after. I even take Colace post surgery for some added assistance in that area as well. After using the Mag-cit, don't wander far from a bathroom. (usually within a couple of hours)
angelface811 100 Posted April 7, 2014 I plan to use it as well pre-op. My doctor is not requiring it but I have done it before. Much better than an enema. I just have to take it about 72 hours before because I have a very slow metabolism. It's not bad tasting but sometimes you can get orange flavor at costco. Put it in the fridge and it's honestly similar to soda.
lsuchick4 54 Posted April 7, 2014 I had to do it the night before surgery. It wasn't for weight loss, though. Pouring it over ice helped it go down. Don't wander far from your own bathroom after drinking it!
