I'm going in for my sleeve surgery tomorrow morning. I am actually feeling excited for it. Anxiety has not yet kicked in but I am sure that it will kick in tonight and I will get no sleep. Few questions for everyone. ..

What did you have to eat day before your surgery? I clarified with my dr. And he told me I could eat my regular pre-op diet which so far is Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch and for dinner I eat 3oz Protein 2 cups non starchy veggies and a half cup Potatoe. I feel that's weird. So I am going to eat my dinner for lunch so I have more time to digest it all... anyone else not have a clear liquid diet 2 Days before?

Also what did u bring into the hospital with you? I have some loose fitting clothes. Pj's. Slippers. My stuffed animal. A book. I'm even bringing some homework from grad school. Anyone else have any secrets that came in handy in the hospital?

I have my surgery tomorrow also at 10 a.m. My doctor told me to have a full Protein Breakfast and after that I can only have liquids up until midnight and I have to drink at least 64 ounces of fluids today I also had to take a dose of Miralax yesterday morning this morning and my last dose at 12 noon so I am on Clear Liquids for the rest of the day up until midnight and in the morning I can just take my blood pressure medication with a sip of Water.< /p>

I packed my bag to take with me a duster type robe, slippers, and I'm going to take a loose pair of pajama pants because I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get that robe on with the IV in my hand, don't want to be showing all my business while I'm walking down the hall, chapstick , my tablet , phone ,

chargers, ink pen and pad in case I have to take some notes and just a few toiletries. I'm thinking I will probably be up half the night too but if so, just as well, maybe I'll be so exhausted tomorrow that I'll sleep through the pain if there is any after surgery. Lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
