4 day post op - all well but?

Recommended Posts

I am four days post op and everything has gone perfectly. However - I feel like when laying down or in certain positions I can actually "feel" the band itself as if I swallowed the ring instead of it being around my stomach. I am assuming this will fade?? I am sure the first few days generates anxiety. Also - in a previous post someone mentioned "slime" - can someone explain that?

everyone is different about how they feel after surgery. I didn't have those feelings...but never really thought about if I felt the band or not...so if you are concerned call your doctors office and ask one of the staff nurses. My nurses are super they are there for any question even if it is silly. If i have read right sliming is sort of vomiting, but its when food gets hanged up and comes back up. I know I have had some bouts like this...but I am seeming to be doing okay. I had my surgery on 1/16/14, have lost 36 lbs so far...and get my 2nd fill on the 10th so am looking forward to it and a little worried as well...so hang in there MarineCorpmom!!! Take care-God bless.

slime occurs when you have over eaten or are stuck. it just fills your pouch with slime. your esophagus creates this slime. I ususally have to because my band won't let me get rid of it by going through the band just lean over the toilet and it comes out. like a baby that spits up. it isn't coming from the stomach but the pouch. the slime is mucous of some sort.

I am five days post op , although I have had no slime problems I do have that sensation were I lay a certain ways and its like I can feel the band move. But I know it all in my head because that would be very painful. Although dealing with the gas is very uncomfortable.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
