I will admit that I haven't done it in one continual setting until yesterday. I went to the grocery store and we walked a while. I do laps around my house all through the day and night though. I am 7 days post op today. I am going to walk around the block today though. I think it will help.

I've been doing between 15-30 minutes a day. Today I did 40 minutes on the treadmill at the gym! :D

I was taking shots to prevent blood clots and told to walk for 2-3 min every hour. Well at home during my recovery I was so nervous about this damn blood clot thing that I walked 10 min every hour and a half. With in two days my calves were killing me, a classic sign of blood clots except for the fact that I had no other symptoms such as redness, swelling etc. Turns out the next day I timed how much I walked and 10 min for 12 times was 120 min or 2 hours! Pre surgery I was lucky to walk 2 min to my car and back LOL. My legs were sore from walking.

Since then I have dialed it back as I am at the 4 week mark and no longer taking the blood clot shots I think I'm in the clear but I still walk close to an hour a day but in 15 min increments and only 3 or 4 times a day. Just make it happen!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
