Hi!

I just got my 1st fill at 6 weeks out and only got .2 ccs in my band as I was still swollen inside around my stoma. I had restriction for 3 weeks and now just in time for my 2nd fill for I have no restriction.

As far as your question with sugar cravings you can have high Protein pudding or sugar free ices

Best of luck!!

Today was bad. I don't know if my cycle is coming or what. I gave in and had sherbet hoping that would help but it made it worse. I eventually suckefd on a Reeses Peanut Butter cup and then to make things worse I had 3 oreos soaked in milk. Now I'm sitting in bed mad and feeling terrible that I gave in

Lapper, stop kicking yourself. Each day has its challenges. You've come amazingly far already, and it's a process. We're human. Thank God. We're gonna do this!

Thanks you guys. I guess I need to find more stuff to occupy my time on the weekend. I will get a fill in 2 weeks. I'm going to ask the md if he can give me a 3 cc fill. I will be able to increase my exercise when I get my fill so hopefully that will help to.

I'm going on 7 weeks post op and I'm getting my first fill this week! The nutritionist told me that in general, most doctors go with 1cc for a first fill. That's just an average though. Some people get more or less, depending on their circumstances or their doctor. She said that 1cc is about all they do to start with because they don't want to fill it too fast and irritate your stomach again so soon after surgery. I was also told that fills are only given every 4-6 weeks, but that also depends on the doctor and such. It's supposed to be a gradual process so your stomach has time to adjust. That's why it takes so long for people to get in the "green zone" with their restriction.

As far as sugar cravings go, I just eat things in moderation and don't let them become a habit. So I eat chocolate every now and then or have a mini muffin. I know that method isn't for everyone though. Another thing you can do is find healthier alternatives, like greek frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, or sugar free Chocolate pudding.

Best of luck to you! :)

I got my first fill 1 month out. He put 3cc's in and it was a little tight so he took some out. I left with 2.6cc's. I went back 2 weeks later and he pulled out 2cc's and added 2.2cc's. So I left with 4.2cc's. Next fill is set up 4 weeks from now. Not sure if I will need it because I think I am in the green zone now.

Everyone has different experiences, but for me, having a properly adjusted band is the most important thing. You're not there yet....so as others have suggested, do your best to limit your calorie intake and do what YOU can as far as exercising/walking/moving....everything helps. You can get through this "bandster hell" as its called for a reason...one day at a time. Best wishes!

lapper32014, I think some of us have had bad days...but as long as you don't make a habit of eating too much sugar you will be fine...get back on the bandster wagon and continue on. I do like sugar free popsicles and pudding...try to get sweets like them when I feel the urge to have something sweet. hang in there and don't beat yourself up too much. Have a great day!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
