I echo to check with your doc.

I also say keep fluids up and Protein.

My trick was to drink pedialyte when I got the flu and was down for a few days. I mixed it with Water and stayed hydrated... The almost fainting spells were enough to convince me to lay low.... I'm quick to sit these days at first sign of lite headedness.

Best of luck

I would definately get ahold of your doc and let him know whats going on. I have dealt with the fainting spells myself over the years, not a good feeling at all. I have had them as a result of dehydration a few times when I was really sick, more often associated with my blood sugar bottoming out, and most recently due to my BP bottoming out ( was due to a increase in a med).

I have had a couple heart attacks. Both times, out of the blue I began to sweat heavily (drenched), dizzy feeling, nausious, tunnel vision. Then came the pain in my left arm/shoulder and or pain bottom of neck. Whenever I have had a fainting spell, it always freaks me out because I have all of the same symptoms as when I had the heart attacks, minus the pain in the arm/neck. Not trying to scare you but the fainting should be cause for concern and followed up on with your doctor.

Called my doc's office this morning.

I almost passed out last night.

My blood pressure bottomed out lower than anytime I've ever seen.....crazy low....scary low. Pulse was pounding. Cold sweat. Dizzy. Scared the crap outa me.

Doc will cut my bp meds in half.....again. New script should be called in by now for me to pick it up on the way to the gym.

@@Dub out of curiosity, what did your BP drop down to? Luckily when it happened to me, I was at the OSU Pacer Clinic. Had originally thought it was a drop in blood sugar but ended up to be my BP (after a change in meds). My low was 50/40, definitely had me out of it. Ended up getting wheeled over the ER for the night till they got it under control.

Doc gave me the norm schedule for post op visits, 2wk/month/2 months ect. He then let me know that due to the meds I am currently on (heart, BP, diabetes), that I would definitely be seeing him more frequently. He said that as the weight starts to drop dramatically, so will the prescription strengths.

He said normally his patients are released the day after surgery, however, he would feel more comfortable planning at least a 3 day stay for me. He said this should give him a little extra time to adjust my meds before sending me home. He said hopefully we will be able to eliminate the diabetes meds and adjust the heart meds as we go along. Surgery is scheduled for next Wed (5/25/16), nervous but excited.

I'm 8 months out of surgery and down about 135 lbs. I've had 2 fainting spells in the past 2 days. Yesterday was smaller, today's was worse. Yesterday I just got really dizzy as I was walking and had to sit. I think I was just out for a second. Today, I was standing, got really dizzy and slumped over against a wall. I was able to tell my bf I need to sit and then I completely blacked out. He said I went completely white, lips and all. I was out for like a min and my arm was twitching. After coming to, I was pale, sweaty, and disoriented. Now I have a Migraine.

I've never had issues with my blood pressure, actually had lower bp even at my highest weight. I always shocked the nurses... I had the stomach flu on Friday and still feel blah, so I haven't been eating or drinking enough. I have been drinking Powerade to keep my electrolytes up.

Has anyone had fainting spells, not related to bp meds?

I searched the site, but every thing about fainting spells seems to be related to bp meds... I have my annual physical next week, so I'll bring it up to my PCP then. I know this might have nothing to do with my sleeve, but I figured I'd ask since there are so many knowledgable people out there :-)

Thanks!!

Have you checked your electrolytes??

When i had my band i would sometimes get light headed and really dizzy when standing and bending.

Turned out to be an electrolyte imbalance... doctor told me to get gastrolyte and drink that daily for a few days.... fixed me right up...

After that whenever i felt like that again I would make sure im hydrated and that i had electrolytes... never had that problem again

Two weeks ago I ended up at an ER. Now reading this I should've contacted my surgeon. I went to the ER because I'm a cancer survivor and never would've crossed my mind that my fainting would've been caused from have my sleeve.

Oh that's not close to enough fluids! You are probably dehydrated - causing your blood pressure to be low and the fainting spells. Get at least 64ozs - even more!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
