Pre-Banding In AZ

Recommended Posts

The potatoes went down just fine. I only ate maybe a 1/4 cup and it satisfied me.

I have not heard back from my boss about tomorrow. But I am sure I will get it off.

I was told 60 grams of Protein a day but at this stage not to worry too much about it. I can't even get a whole shake down me. I have been using Body Lean from Hi-health and it has 40 grams of Protein. To get it down I made chocolate pudding out of it. I used the surgar free instant Jell-O and substitued milk with my shake. It made 5 little cups. It takes anywhere from 45 mins to an hour to get it down.

When is your post-op appoinment? I am feeling much much better tonight.

Virginia

I got the day off and I sure needed it. My boss didn't call me till 9:30 pm last night. We get along very well and you can even say we are friends. He has been with me though this whole journey.

Getting out of bed in the morning is till an adventure in pain. Last night I had had it with not being able to sleep on my left side so I rolled over and man the pain! But you know what, the longer I lay there the less the pain and eventually I fell back to sleep!

I almost feel normal today as far as food goes. I got up and had my coffee (decaf of course). Then I made myself some maple and brown sugar lite instant oatmeal. Very runny. I ate about a 1/4 of it and I feel very full and satisfied. And to think I use to use two of those packages!

Now I am sipping on my second cup of coffee and just 'kickn it' as my boys would say. (grown boys).

I am officially one pound under my pre-surgery weight. I went in weighing 208 and came out weighing 217 today I weigh 207. I am going to go out and find me a couple of inexpensive very casual dresses to wear to work. Any elastic on my waist is uncomfortable. I don't even know how I am going to deal with underwear!

I hope you all are feeling better today!

Hey Virginia!

Does anyone know what happened to LilMonkey? I hope she's OK.

I'm doing OK today. I have stopped taking the pain meds and have a lot more energy, which I've needed being home alone with the kids for the first time. I am having some port pain, especially sitting here at the computer. I don't know how you are doing it. I sit here for more than 30 mintues or so and it stabs and burns until I can't take it anymore.

This morning I was down 2 pounds from pre-surgery weight. Yeah, finally broke the barrier.

I have eaten more today, but I am having even a harder time with the Protein. Now that there are more options, the Protein shake is the last thing I want to have. Ugh.....

Have a good night!

Shauna

Hey Shauna, I haven't heard from Lilmonkey, I too hope all is well. Yesterday was my first day back at work and I came home very tired. I've been posting on the May 2007 board. Have you heard there is a support group that meets I think the first satruday of the month? I think I'm going to try and go this next time.

How are you feeling? How are things going?

Hi All!

I'm new to banding and just found this awesome site. I've been trolling all day and you all seem awesome.

I have a question that I wanted to get some input on before I present it to my doctor. I've mentioned it, but since we haven't set a date for surgery just yet, it hasn't been fully addressed.

I'm working with Dr. Orris over at WLIA and so far I'm pretty happy. My husband and I have decided to both be banded in an attempt for once and for all change in lifestyle.

My problem is this: I'd like my husband and I to be banded at the same time. The reason for this is that we work together and I'm trying to keep it relatively hush hush at work. If we both take a week off at seperate times, it would obviously raise questions. Do you guys think this is a possibility? Assuming the Dr. would be able to schedule it and all.

So I guess my main question is how bad is post op painwise and general yuckiness feeling wise. Thanks!

I would say that you would probley be able to do this, you would need somone willing to pick you up. only because you both may be on pain killers which they say not to drive while taking. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days and got so board I felt like I could have done the same things at home as there after day 1. I have heard that men usually have a harder time than women do, maybe because they are more of babies, ha ha! I hear it is because women have menstral cramps, deliver babies and all sorts of different things that give us a little higher pain tolerance. good Luck!

Hey Virginia,

I'm doing OK today. You? So, what did it feel like when you ate too much?

I didn't know about the support group. Who's it with? I might be interested in going as well. Will you let me know if you find out any details on it?

Kaylali-- Hi! I haven't seen you on the AZ forum before. Awesome to know there is another one of us. Where do you live and who did your surgery?

Hi I live in Queen Creek, Dr. Valencia in TJ Mexico for the surgery. I had such a great experience down there.

Hey Kaylali and welcome!

You are definitely right about the boys being more of a baby than the girls. :success1: My husband was very cranky the first week after surgery. It was awful! But we're both feeling much better this week (week 3).

How's your PCP progress coming? Here's hoping everything you need progresses in a speedy way so you can be banded as soon as you want. :welldoneclap:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
