At a weight loss stand still

Recommended Posts

I will be 4 weeks post op this Wednesday. I am on puree at this time. I have lost 19 pounds since surgery, but I am at a stand still now. Have been for a week. Is this normal or should I be doing something different?

I am at same issue with just about same amount of wieghtloss except I am on soft foods. I was sleeved 3/10. I am fluctuating between a couple pounds. I had no energy and everything exhausted me up until last week. I find myself since Wednesday having more energy thankfully!

Stalls are perfectly normal. You can search "stall" on this forum and find tons of information.

My surgery was 11/14/13, so I'm almost 5 months out - I have stalled many times. My first one came between weeks 3 and 4 and I was so scared. I can understand. Just know it's perfectly normal and continue to follow your plan. Your body needs to try to figure out what you're doing AND you're still recovering from major surgery.

You're going to be fine. You got this!!!!!! :)

I'm 8 weeks out and Im going through my second or third stall. I know its normal but it sure does make me nervous. I was hoping for a steady drop in weight but its definitely start and stop and slow go.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
