Need advice from vets, HELP!

Recommended Posts

Had sleeve surgery 16 months ago. About 5 months ago I got back into occasionally over eating, mainly snak food. This is when I started to throw up. I don't do that anymore but I still get nauseated and must throw up immediately. I am 6 lbs from my goal weight. I got sick on lettuce the other day and threw up. Has anyone else had this issue? I am afraid I will keep losing after I get to goal. How much does everyone eat at this level? I only eat twice a day and I eat very little. I can not eat more times a day because I am so full. Suggestions!

This doesn't seem normal to me. I am two years out and if a person did not already know that I've been sleeved, they would not guess by watching me eat. I can eat a whole sandwich if the filling is not dense Protein, or a bowl of Soup or chili, or a slice of pan pizza. There are only a handful of foods I should avoid because they make me uncomfortable, but I have only thrown up twice in the two years. Lettuce is one of the things that I can't eat.

I have no suggestions for you except to see your surgeon. Wishing you the best, and let us know how you get along.

You need to make modifications to your diet perhaps get a Protein Shake in, sometime in between your meals to balance your metabolism going many hours with no food food isn't ideal for your body

I recommend seeing your Dr and pushing for a test to see how your remaining stomach is shaped. Sounds like you might have a stricture that is preventing you from eating a normal amount (for a sleever over a year out).

Not sure what you are eating but consider adding full fat dairy, Peanut Butter, avocado and healthy oils to stop weight loss.

I haven't heard of anyone staying full so long after eating. Maybe try more moist Protein, greek yogurt, and cooked vegetables instead of raw, until you get an answer from the doc.

My advice is to see your surgeon. At 16 months out, I can eat small but normal sized portions. One thing I've noticed is that no 2 sleeves are alike, and we can all eat way different amounts, and the restriction is different for all of us. In your case, the fact that you can eat less than you could before is a clear indicator that it's time to seek medical expertise. Probably something rectified with a minor procedure, or maybe nothing at all, but you'll feel better if you know what's going on. Let us know how you are.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
