floelipow 4 Posted April 6, 2014 Hi everyone, I am new to this app. I hope to take away as much info. As I can to help me on this Quest for life. I just had my surgery December 3 2013 , so I am just 4 mo. Out. My Dr. Was Dr Richard he is great , with great bad side manners. On the second day after surgery while you are down in the X-ray room making sure there are no leaks, he comes in and leaves a stuffed white polar bear on your bed, that's so sweet and comforting. so all that being said.In the beginning it was easier because of the liquid diet, then the soft food part, and then on to the regular diet. This is where the problems began for me. I just could not understand what to eat. They give us sheets with what to eat and what not to eat, but it is so confusing, it says wheat bread, but then the nutritionist says no bread. Ok I stop that right away. There were other foods that were on list and then come to find out that when you are less than ever how many months out you are you can't have it. So there is my struggle. I knew my Protein was first and foremost, and that the portions were very small. Have always and still am fighting the slow eating , and trust me I suffer from it. We really do have a great post surgery program, we have group meeting twice a month, cooking classes, strive program, walking groups, nutrition classes twice a month, a bariatric closet where we bring in to big clothes and get smaller ones for free, Oh and we can get a Bari angel. I got one who I can now call for help. I struggle a lot with wanting to snack, our Dr. Does not allow this. But I have been doing it any way, with yogurt and wheat crackers with Peanut Butter on them. I told them this and was told it is why I am at a stand still. So I have now stopped this , but with much struggling. I went and got a personal trainer and I am feeling much better about that part. I have also decided to get my eating under control before I really mess up. I have a Meal Replacement in the morning, 2 oz meat ( fish or chicken cooked on a mini George Forman grill. And less that a 1/4 cup of veggie. So I am hoping for better results by the end of this month. I know this was a long intro, but felt good to get it out in writing... I hope to be here a long time and learn. Thank you , Flo 4 mentalistfan, Mrs. Whatsit, JessUK and 1 other reacted to this
Mrs. Whatsit 33 Posted April 6, 2014 Hi Floe! You might be a newbie here but you're not a newbie as far as your experience goes. My surgery was just last week. If you're wanting some imput on how to get back on track, you might start a thread saying you're 3 months out from surgery and having trouble staying on track. There are lots of people here with lots of great advice, you just have to get their attention. Good luck and welcome!
