I've been told that 2 heating pads are better by a friend of mine that had laprascoptic surgery so I'm bringing my heated throw, it's smaller than a blanket but big enough to wrap around me, $20 at Target in Buffalo I got it :)

Is heat good for the Incisions? Or is it ice that should go on it?

I think the heating pads are for the gas pains around the shoulders and such, I'd have to ask about the incisions, if she put heat there too

I was only at the surgery center for a few hours. Please make sure you have Chapstick and gas x. They gave me 3 gas x while I was there but I was ready for another on the way home. I wasn't alert enough to know that my iPad and phone were there.

I also heard about the gas x strips from someone else. I bet it's something that may help some, not all.

I'm going to ask my surgeon tomorrow at my pre op, after reading many posts gas x won't help because it's a different gas than we normally have because it's the air they blow our tummy up for surgery, I will keep you posted :)

Thank you I added it!

I packed too much. I wore two of their gowns, one forward one backward, my drain leaked my second night so I'd rather have gross stuff on their gowns. My gowns were pretty gross after two days. I never bothered to put on underwear since didnt matter and made it easier in that tiny bathroom with my iv . I used very little. Toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, tablet and phone and chargers. Walking helped with gas more than gasex. They give you swabs for mouth. Keep it simple, don't get gross stuff on your own clothing. Wiped face with wash clothes sometimes for refresher.

Each surgeon is different because gas x strips is given to you at the hospital as well as you can have them when you get home because they fill your stomach full of gas for the surgery. Good luck.

I was in hospital for 3 days so I took my own comfy sleepwear :) extra underwear and defiantly toiletries :) and if you have a product called gas x where you are take it !!! We don't have it here and I could really use some (4 days after surgery) good luck !!

I took phone charger, gasx, deodorant, hair brush and flip flops...they provide me a gown and a robe, toothpaste, toothbrush, maxi pads and shower gel!! My back and shoulder was killing me and i had to wait for pain management to give me gas x so i just took one that i had in my bag....it moved the gas asap on my back but not my shoulder...they walk me every 2hours and they gave me heparin shots 2x a day

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
