lynnsleeving 1 Posted April 14, 2014 Hello fellow May Sleevers... My process was pretty easy. Much easier than I anticipated. I decided early March that I was ready for the surgery. 1st doctor appt was March 19th. My insurance only required a NUT and Pscy appt. Paperwork was submitted April 4th and three days later APPROVED... My surgery was originally set for April 22nd but because I have a 2yr old son, I needed to reschedule so I could arrange for my family to keep him that weekend since my husband will be with me at the hospital. So now my special day is May 2nd. My husband is so supportive about my decision and he is ready to assist me with everything I may be facing pre and post surgery. Let's do this fellow sleevers. 1 seanindallas reacted to this
Amy373 56 Posted April 14, 2014 Hello I was originally an April sleever-even started liquids for 2 days. And than had to reschedule. My new date is May 1st. The anticipation of surgery and the unknown was almost unbearable. I guess I'm somewhat of a control freak and not having any control is hard for me. Anyone else having same problems? 2 seanindallas and bosslady99751 reacted to this

Yes I am the same way but the closer I get to my date the easier it is for me to be less nervous for some reason. Right now in just really wanting it to be over and mine isn't until the 13th. Ugh! Amy373 56 Posted April 14, 2014 I have had my pre op appt but not an ultrasound?!?! Wondering why? I have never had any surgeries before. Wouldn't they like to see what my insides look like?!?
skellertx 14 Posted April 14, 2014 I guess I'm somewhat of a control freak and not having any control is hard for me. Anyone else having same problems? But you DO have total control over this entire process--you are choosing to have gastric sleeve surgery. You can call it off at any time. You definitely call the shots on this one. That said, of course I totally understand your feelings: it sounds like the same internal struggle I am going through where part of me wants to make healthier choices, but another part of me wants to sabotage those efforts. Try to tell yourself that it's alright, you're going through with this surgery, and it will help you make better choices in the future. It's what I'm doing, myself, every day, and I know it's not easy!
seanindallas 17 Posted April 14, 2014 Hello, my surgery date is May 12. Just waiting on insurance approval. Hi Susan - I'm a May 12-er also. Good luck, from Dallas area. Just had a pre-surgery pulmonary appointment. That spawned two more appointments....*sigh*....1 - A sleep study and 2 - some further breathing testing. At least with all of the pre-op checks I feel like I will have been evaluated well prior to heading into surgery.
fran2014 12 Posted April 14, 2014 I'm also May 6th, I start my liquid diet on 4/26!

I did the sleep study and pulmonary doctor is forcing me to use his CPAP machine, if i don't he won't give approval for the surgery. I wish it was May 12th already. 1 seanindallas reacted to this

Derouin4 30 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Got a call from my Surgeon's office changing my day from May 22nd to May 20th. When I got home there was a letter in the mail saying that the insurance only approved me tor 1 night in the hospital. That's scary! I am having a hernia repair as well as a lower esophageal sphincter repair and the sleeve. I haven't quite freaked out yet, but I'm on the verge. I think the one night at the hospital is the standard for this surgery, but it doesn't mean that if you need to stay longer because of complications that your insurance won't cover it. So fear not! 1 Derouin4 reacted to this
