Hello, I was wondering how many people followed the diet to a T after surgery. Did you start any food earlier? I am 10 days out and I had scrambled eggs this morning. I did not have any problems with them. I am supposed to be on full liquids till Tue. My stomach seems to growl all the time. I was just wondering what your experiences with food were during your first 6 weeks. Thanks

Follow it to a T. Those rules are there for a reason. Just because you don't notice any ill effects doesn't mean there aren't any. You trusted your doctor to perform surgery on you, trust him now.

I was on full liquids for a month and then purees for a month. I followed my surgical team's instructions precisely. I didn't pay a bunch of money and take the risk of surgery to play fast and loose with the rules after it was over.

My doc said to advance to stage 2 diet upon discharge from the hospital. This includes a pre determined amount of the following... yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, cream of wheat, Jello, Soup, SF pudding for one meal and 60 - 80 oz Protein via shake broken into meals or however we can get it in us...sipping all day, whatever.....it trips me out that some people are still on Clear Liquids for weeks.

Hello, I find that I am so hungry. I don't understand why, Its more than head hunger because my stomach is growling. I understand that I went through this surgery for a reason but one main one is I thought I WOULD NOT BE HUNGRY!!!! Why am I hungry??? My start weight in this process was 248. I did not take this surgery lightly or for granted. I am just being honest, I am on full liquids but did have some things yesterday against my diet. I think I better just suck it up & deal with it and hope things get easier. to Loseit2014 thank you so much for your honestly!!

@@paj92434 if your stomach is growling and you feel hungry, you may need to be on a PPI. If you are already on one, you may need a stronger one or a bigger dose. Excess acid production after surgery is a normal thing, and it will make your stomach growl and make you feel hungry. Maybe check with your surgeon or PCP?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
