I'm on the purée phase and can barley eat anything. That is awesome! Same day as me. I am getting about 50/55 grams of protein a day right now. I have lost a total of 35 lbs. Pre Op 20 & post op 15. Yes, I went back to work after a week and by the time 7pm rolls around I am ready for bed. My surgeon said that it takes a good 4 to 6 weeks to get all energy back since this was a major surgery. I feel pretty good as long as I'm not doing much. If I'm walking a lot or go to the gym I get fatigued very quickly. It's to be expected as my body is trying to adjust to functioning on around 600 calories/day. I hope my body can make the adjustment soon. katesuccess 990 Posted May 18, 2014 I had my surgery 4/29 too, and have lost about 30 pounds since starting my preop (18 since surgery). I'm still fatigued often like you folks, but am getting my 6000 steps in every day so far, and 5 to 7 flights of stairs. I'm not yet allowed to work out with any weights or machines (no rowing, spinning, etc) but walking is doing well for me so far. I would like to start weights though - tone feels like it'll be harder to get going on since all I can do now is walk. I went back to work after two full weeks off, and am still really tired, so I was glad to hear one of you say what you did about 6 weeks or so. Something to look forward to! I'm also on mushy/soft foods still - we have that for three weeks with my doc. Most of it is going okay, but I find I still need to add half a shake a day to get my Protein up to 60 grams, which is my goal. Had a bad experience with deli turkey - just sat like a stone! Also with thinking I could add my small amount of dairy or veggies after my 2 ounces of chicken - SO not a good idea! I was too full without realizing it, and it just wouldn't stay down. Uhg. Much as I have always loved to eat, the thought of something like 6 mini meals is making me NUTS! Hard to get the waiting time in AND all the Water in. Sigh. Follow your own docs rules! I also had mine at a Center of Excellence. I'm just saying that Water does not stay in the sleeve, it funnels out quickly. I do not ever drink with or after meals, but drinking right before does not affect my sleeve. I am quite full after my 1/3 C of food and I stay full for 4 hours or more afterwards, which is what my doc wants. For ME, it helps me a little bit with getting my fluids in, which I still struggle with. It may be something you can ask your doc about if fluids continue to be difficult to get in. The psych who works in my surgeon's office is 4 years post-op VSG and he drinks with his meals now, no problem. That's something I can't imagine doing now, but things do change as we get further out. The more information one has, the better. It never hurts to present another perspective to our docs and ask questions. I ask my doc to back up his information if it doesn't make sense to me. But I'm a nurse, so I guess I'm used to questioning docs if their orders don't make sense to me. It has saved a life or two. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
