So nice to know there's others fighting the same battles. This has been the most emotional journey for me.. I have heard this per op diet is by far the worst. I'm wondering how long before I have more energy? Its amazing how now that I only eat 1meal a day I savor every moment. I know I could eat way more than 4oz Protein and 1/2 c of veggies. But now I'm fine with it. I am satisfied! I Hope everyone that is getting ready for surgery have great success! In my prayers sleevers!

Wow, you lost 26lbs during pre-op? Thats Amazing. You are going to do just fine. Soon you won't have the cravings and hunger pains to contend with! You can do this...Maybe you should treat yourself to a massage or a mani/pedi...You've worked hard...

My surgery is on the 16th. What really helps ease my mind is literally not to think about the surgery itself. I feel like if I think about it I may panic and get scared, or if I think about it I may get overly excited. In college I was taught there are two different types of stress the good, in which someone may be planning something big like surgery or a wedding. This will cause u to get excited unable to sleep and constantly thinking about the event. Of course we all know the bad stress that will cause worry and headache etc. I choose to continue what I'm doing, I just don't think about it. This really helps me get bye

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
