My daughter and I said so long to quite a bit the day before we started pre-op diet but honestly I think my head is on straight finally because I got NO satisfaction out of it plus it wasn't a need to say bye more like see u sometime down the road if I choose to just much less of u lol. I'm so excited about food not controlling me and my life.

My husband and I were both sleeved so we kept each other straight. I emptied my pantry and helped a needy friend out with all the things we no longer wanted to eat. We avoided eating out and it helped keep us on track. Best wishes!

It is on my mind a lot. I keep categorizing my favorite restaurants and what I want to order!

I was going to have a food funeral but I have been watching my diet and exercising 5 days a week. I knew if I went to a buffet and pigged out one last time I would feel awful and disappointed in myself. I decided it wasn't worth it. I've been getting ready for this since November 26th, 2013. I'm on the 12th day of my 14 day all liquid diet and feeling great! I'm so ready for my new life! I'm going to be the boss of food and not vice versa! This life change is about making permanent life changes and one of the major changes should be what we choose to eat. We need to learn the difference between need and want. Usually what we want is not what we need. This surgery is a tool and not a miracle cure. If it were everyone would be having out done. You have to change your life style for the rest of your life in order for your surgery to be successful. Good luck on your choices and your journey to your new life! :-)

I have been feeling the same! I feel like eating foods I normally stay away from as well, I normally watch what I eat like staying away from chocolates or proccutto and cheese, but this week I did indulge a bit, now I'm back to my salads meats and fruits. I know what you mean about wanting to eat everything before doing the pre op diet but we need to focus on preparing to change our eating lifestyle, the best of luck to us all :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
