Boise is my hometown where I grew up but I've lived here in Arkansas since 2006. I sure miss Idaho, I was last there March of 2011.

I'm in Idaho, but way over in Teton County on the Idaho/Wyoming border.

I actually have not had my surgery yet. I am almost 2 months in to my 3 month pre-op diet. I am seeing Dr. Korn at St. Lukes. I am going to my first support group tomorrow evening actually at the Eagle Rd. location. What about you? Who's your doc? When did you have it done? I have only been in Boise about 4 months and have found it to be harder to be obese here than in Eugene where I moved from. I have had a rough time at the gyms here. How about you?

I've lived in Boise twice but now live in VA! What I wouldn't give for a Zen salad from Zen Bento right now, but alas it can't eat rice for another 7 months lol! Oh yeah and the distance thing! Best of luck to you, boy do I miss the foot hills views, but I don't really want to move back either!

I'm doing good I guess. Still on mostly soft foods. Having trouble introducing anything else it seems but all in all I'm good. I've lost around 45 pounds so I guess the trade off for a boring diet is wonderful in my eyes.... My doctor was Sergio verboonen in Mexico. It was a great experience!!

I'm in boise! Dr valentine did my surgery and Dr Oakley readmitted me into the hospital a week later. My surgery was on Feb 12th. So a little over 2 months out. I had some complications that made Feb and march not so great but doing a lot better now. Down 45 pounds since surgery! The st. Lukes support groups are great, I went to one pre surgery and was thinking about going again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
