kyleebean 209 Posted April 3, 2014 I had my gallbladder removed on Monday and had IVs until I was ready for discharge on Tuesday. During that time I gained 11 pounds of which I assume was mostly Water weight. But I've been home 2 days and I haven't lost any of the weight. I'm not drinking as much as I should because I'm nauseous and eating mostly consists of Soup or oatmeal. I'm just so frustrated because prior to surgery I was 239 and now the scale doesn't budge from 249. Depression is setting in. It also doesn't help that I'm in pain on top of it. NMJG 1,266 Posted April 3, 2014 Stay off the scale! Don't get back on it for 2 weeks. Let yourself heal up a bit and stop being so hard on yourself. You just had major surgery, for goodness sakes. Do try and get your liquids in, it will help with healing. Try and walk around even if it hurts, you will heal faster if you are up and about rather than just laying there. Feel better soon 1 2muchfun reacted to this

You have done a fantastic job so far, 66 pounds even at the weight you don't like of 249. As the prior poster said you just had another major surgery, don't obsess about the scale, just heal for now and make sure you are doing all you can for your current recovery. Remember this is a marathon and not a sprint. All my best and hope you recover soon!
Teachamy 1,042 Posted April 3, 2014 Agreed. STAY OFF THE scale FOR 2 WEEKS! Have someone in your house hide it from you if you have to. It is causing you to focus on a number that is false right now. Think about NSV's as you recover. Chart your nutritional intake in MFP.In 2 weeks, you will hopefully see a number that agrees with your expectations. LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted April 3, 2014 Put the scale in the trunk of your car. You get rid of the enemies, right? Relax and you will be losing weight before you know it!
magtart 603 Posted April 3, 2014 It took me two weeks to lose the weight from IV fluids. You will be fine!
Madam Reverie 2,958 Posted April 3, 2014 I'd say drink more fluids to move things along. You'll be peeing like the proverbial race horse, but whilst you're taking it easy on the food, more fluids can only be a good thing. You'll be peeing out all the weight in no time
