I have an all-or-nothing personality. I know I can't be alone in this mentality. It's a big part of why I am overweight... I can't just cook a steak... As long as we are grillen it might as well Be a 16oz rib eye with all the BBQ fixens. If a slice of pizza is good...then half a pizza with joe joes and ranch is great! Now although this mentality has obviously helped further my obesity- it has also served me well when geared towards things that are more postive. Saving money, career goals, etc. I know I will end up channeling this mentality towards my sleeve---it's just my nature. I am looking for game plans as far as work outs and eating strategies from those who are big fast losers, that are devoted, have a high level of focus, commitment, and sacrifice---that were totally dedicated to getting the best out of their sleeve. Those who are slow losers, smaller losers, or didn't deviate from the slow and steady wins the race mentality (which I totally envy) ---their is no need to feel offended by my post as I am not knocking your process or commitment...I am just looking to connect with folks like me.

My husband has your mentality- he is very all or nothing, and follows a very steady routine. He is a frequent user here- his user name is fiddleman. He had surgery on July 2, 2012 and since then, has lost 180lbs, maintaining his current weight of 181 since Feb. 2013. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
