There are a number of ongoing DFW threads in various locations on these boards. Wonder if everyone will eventually make their way here.

I tried to start a guys sleeve group last year. Had great response but my travel schedule was/is so crazy I dropped the ball. I'd love to put something together if everyone is still interested.

Commenting just so I can keep up with this thread.

A few of us met in south Arlington over a year ago. Was hard to find a time that fit everyone's schedule.

I think the area is so large that it may need to be broken down a bit into more manageable drives, maybe by counties. Maybe Dallas/Collin, Tarrant/Denton or ??. Any ideas?

ETA: Not that you would have to attend the group in "your" county, just that the meeting place would be convenient for those living or working in that area. Hopefully that makes sense. :P

Wylie/Sachse/Murphy

I would love a support group in the Wylie/Sachse/Murphy area.

Hey guys! New sleeves here. I'm actually in San Antonio but there is no group for SA. So, if you guys end up getting together, I'd love to join. I'm contemplating a move to Dallas in about a year or two so it would also be nice to know people locally.

Hope to talk to you soon.

Angel

I'm in the Irving area!! I think this is a great idea. When I went to the support group my dr recommended it felt more like another nutrition class..but I have surgery next month and I want to talk to people about their experience and what they went through and all that!! I love the idea.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
