former_vbg 198 Posted April 3, 2014 I am only posting this as someone who would support a support group in the KC area. I do not have the time to lead the group, but I would do everything I can to support the group leader in their role, and of course participate as my schedule allowed. I will be 3 yrs out this June! Great idea Alex!! 1 Alex Brecher reacted to this
Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted April 29, 2014 Please PM me if you'd like to lead or co-lead this support group!
isit5yet 37 Posted June 5, 2014 Whoever created this thread might want to change the title. Kansas City is in MO, not MI. 1 Alex Brecher reacted to this
RJCmommy 2 Posted June 29, 2014 I would attend as well. Could not be a leader, I just moved here a month ago!
Linda James 0 Posted August 24, 2014 I am just starting the process to get a surgical appointment. Psych visit done. Dieting with Dr supervision. Would like to see a group in this area, but don't feel like I have any experience for anyone else to draw on.
former_vbg 198 Posted August 24, 2014 You know a thought just occurred to me. It would seem all of us are so busy with work, family and everything else that leading a group is not something any of us can do. What about planning a get together this Fall. I can help plan if there is enough interest. I am thinking of getting together at a park or something where people can bring their kids, SOs, etc, It would be a chance to meet one another locally. Maybe just do this a couple times a year or something. Then, if you feel like you connect with 1 or more people, they can exchange information and provide a little more support for one another. Just a thought. p.s. I am thinking maybe late September or early October???
lws96 1 Posted November 16, 2014 Hi, I live in the kc area. I am having surgery Tuesday and was wondering about support groups. The times of the support group through the Bariatric Center do not work well with my schedule right now. With the cold weather upon us, it would be difficult to find a place indoors until maybe after the first of the year. I may consider being leader once I review what is necessary to be one for this group.
jmccape 25 Posted January 10, 2015 Hi I'm from the KC area and would be interested in a support group. How do we get this thing going?
jesshero 15 Posted January 10, 2015 I had my surgery done in KC in December, but I live in KS. I would suggest this group is cross-listed in KS, since KC sits halfway in both states.

ParraKing61 2 Posted January 24, 2016 Justed joined! I am looking for a group to go to!! Or a buddy to lose weight with.
bikerchick519 202 Posted January 15, 2017 Since it looks like no one ever lead this group and got it going, I would be interested in leading or co-leading it. Let me know if you'd like to schedule a meeting in the Kansas City, MO/KS area. I know of a great coffee shop in Lee's Summit that serves (or used to when we met there) Protein drinks both hot and cold. I've had both vertical sleeve and mini bypass surgeries so I have a lot of info I could pass along and help anyone who has questions.
crazywomanincage 22 Posted January 29, 2017 I live in the KC area and am 4 days post op. ???? Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App
bikerchick519 202 Posted January 29, 2017 If you have any questions or would like to meet for coffee sometime let me know. I'm off Thurs., Fri, and Sat. and usually off work by 4pm. Even though I've had the sleeve and a revision, I still like to meet with people who've had weight loss surgery because it's good to share experiences.
